View Full Version : Mod package request. (cooking nades/Rudes MC/SS)

Hi guys,

OK, so I got cooking nades 'almost' working with some help from CP. (click here (http://www.codadmin.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1550) for details). I now have one problem, and one request.

The problem:

It seems that whenever you cook off a grenade till it explodes in your face, the grenade is 'duped'. It explodes in your face, and then still throws and explodes as it normally would. Has anyone else had this same problem, and if so, is there a known fix? Frankly, I don't see it as 'that' big of a problem as you shouldn't be cooking off nades till they explode in your face anyways.. :o

The request:

Is there any modders that would like to lend a hand in a project of making a custom mod package that incorperates:

- Cooking nades
- MP Shellshock (Oracleman pointed out that Tiny had a SS mod out.. perhaps with his permission his code could be used?)
- Rudedogs message center

I believe this would be a popular package as I know I am not alone in wanting these features on my server, without altering other weapon/game dynamics.

Any takers? Please?

Well... On the subject of cooking nades. I noticed this way back when with CKR and I dont think there is a fix since the cooking is built in to the game. The Devs might be more help on this issue (and perhaps this is the reason grenade cooking was left out in the first place)

Shellshock and RDs message center would have to be merged together. If Im not mistaken RDs MC makes changes to the gametypes to print the messages.

I did something similar to MC with my own Devils Realism, although I made it alot more flexible (upto 100 messages possible, And Im NOT willing to release Devils Realism (DR) at this time so please dont ask ;) )

I currently have all my time taken up on other modding endevours ( I really have no clue how you spell that :oops: ) But feel free to use my shellshock code. All you really need to know to do shellshock is that you need to precache the type of SS you want (precacheshellshock(type) )and then call it using shellshock(type, time)

I have a 1.2 standalone SS mod available here. (http://www.dccmn.com/sigs/Cod/Shellshock1.2.zip) It should give you all the info you need to write your own mod. I have commented everything I added with ++T so just search for that and you will find the changes. I also made it easy to add to other gametyps by including the majority of code in the _shellshock.gsc file.

If you just copy and paste the code... Then credit would be nice :smile:

OK, so I just got done mixing together Tiny's v1.2 SS mod and 4 second cooking nades. That was too easy. Now my next mission is to incorperate Rudes MC. Im going to take a look at his gametype files now and see if it is something I can handle on my own. If so, I will gather up all the appropriate permissions, then release it as a package.

... when all your doing is pasting together other peoples code ... haha :oops:

Well, that about raps things up. I will see about making this package availible here on codadmin if anyone else wants it.

Yeah the real fun in modding is when you put something together and it's all your own work. Our Jamming mod and Anti-Camp mod was cool to work on for just that reason.

We would love to run a mod such as this on our server. We have a 20 man server that is always full. I guarantee that the people who visit our server would love this mod.

Well, really all I have to do to make it ready for distro is to make a readme and get permission from Rudedog. Tiny has already signed off on it further up in this thread. I made the nade cooking mod myself with tutalage(sp?) from CP, so I just need to be sure to give him Props in the readme(mad props at that 8-) he was a huge help.)

In the meantime, anyone interested in checking out this mod package in action, my server is a 16 person TDM/HQ server that can be found at:

Its still new, so it isnt very popular yet. Kinda bums me out because A) its a completely dedicated Linux box with pretty tasty specs(for a Linux box). and B) I work as a UNIX SA for an ISP. This box sits at our co-lo faucility and rides right on the backhaul. Translation: all the bandwidth you can chew. and C) I've put alot of work into this server and would love to see how it performs under load.... even if it does disappoint me :%(:
