nuke is the back end of the site/sites. For more info on phpnuke, check out one of the following sites

http://www.phpnuke.org
http://www.nukecops.com

To use the nuke system you need several things most providers have

PHP
Mysql
phpnuke

Forums are all part of "nuke" but you could install just the forums part you still need, php and mysql for your forums to run.

Hope this helps, it's easy but you need to know at least some of the basic hosting stuff.

You can mod your phpnuke site with blocks, the squares you see to the left of these forums or on both sides of the main page. the forums are a module that runs inside of phpnuke.

Other types of nuke CMS is postNUKE. CMS content management system.

Hey rude,
I have downloaded php nuke 7.0, where can I find this mysql? I want to run a php nuke forums for my clan instead of using the ever so boring conforums forums. I understand the rest of your last statement, just dont know where to get this mysql. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

mysql should be running on your server already unless your running this at home.

You can download a free version of mysql for both linux or windows here

http://www.mysql.com/

you will also need to install php if your running this from your own box. most web providers have both php and mysql already installed their servers.

Thanks rude, this looks really complicated. I think I'm going to leave this to a couple of my members who know how to do this. Thanks for the tips though :!: .

im sure if you rent webspace from a small business you can talk straight to the admin who will be more than happy to rent you some webspace with a mysql database on and even install the forum on(very simple to do). a good link if you havnt a clue- www.inetgaming.co.uk/index.php?page=webhosting

Not sure if you're installing all this on your own box, or if you have a webhosting account. If you have a webhosting account, the host should have MySQL up and running already and all you need to do is make yourself a database.

If you do have a webhosting account, and that account happens to have cPanel look for a "Fantastico" icon (at the bottom). You can install phpNuke via Fantastico in about four mouse clicks. Very very easy to do.
