Long story short, my opinion is the PS3, not only for the game side but the blue-ray compatibility. I'm also afraid to buy anything for my 360 because of the ring of death. yes I know it now has a 2 or 3 year warranty but I don't want to be without the platform if it does break. MS does not return your console quickly.

With all that aside, from a business standpoint you may want to go with a 360, as explained below.

If you look at it via sales, then the 360 has the developers ear and pocketbooks = they will get all the attention and support along with first releases.

If you look at it by processing power, I think the PS3 has a lot of untapped potential but currently does not hold the attention of the developers because it does not currently have the market share.

Think of it as VHS vs beta max (which was another Sony product)

I think by next year (end) we will start to see more and more attention given to the PS3. Why? because they will have more market share as more and more people buy the platform not only for gaming but for it's blue-ray player. Also developers will now understand better, how to use the full potential of the PS3 and "hopefully" games will show because of it.

I should add, that it's nice to see someone else feel like the red headed step child for a change. I think all of us PCers can relate to how the PS3 guys/gals are feeling.

lol rude, great minds i said the same thing in the other post concerning 402 almost word for word...

i like my ps3 so far and i got mine mostly for non gaming reasons, which is just as well as there aren't that many good titles on it at this stage. i love being able to stream my pc media files to my sony 46" flat screen down stairs without wires or cables using media player 11 on my pc and my ps3 as a wireless device, you might be able to do that with the 360 but i love that feature, and the blue ray is really good one of my main reasons for buying it (it isn't as good a blue ray player as you can get no doubt but its good enough for me, casion royal is brilliant on it!) there is an element of compromise and the ps3 does no one thing better than anyhting else i'm sure but as i said a few reasons for my ps3 purchase and so far i'm impressed

DL.TV's Robert Herring (Same guy from PC MAG) states that the PS3's Blueray player is one of the best and supports the latest standards for Blueray players because it can easily be upgraded.

Hell My family uses the BR player more then the game console side of the PS3. Then comes my Wii and the Xbox 360 collects dust......Thank god I only purchased one HD DVD for it..

It comes down to again us PCers feeling at home. With the PS3 you get so much more then a simply game console out of the box. Where the 360 feels like it's hacked together to do all those other things on top of playing games.

at the end of the day, I'll stick with my PC however when I want to watch a HD movie or easily stream media to the living room, I fire up the PS3.

BTW great quote in that other thread, Nasty
