Hey, guys! Ok, I've been helping out in tweaking and modding the AAN server. We've had this issue for a while when it comes to adding maps and I was hoping I might find some similar findings and/or theories on how to fix it.

Here's the deal, we have a realism mod (AANR) that changes the weapons and adds shellshock and a clan vs. non-clan feature and also the HLCRcon mod. We then attempted to throw in a bunch of maps (17 AFIK). When we start up the server and enough people are on (2 or more on seperate teams) and a round starts everyone on the server will get a cvar error. Something like "empty cvar error" and in my local log it says something like "set '' bgMaxJumpHeight" or some such crap (my log was rewritten after we got the server running correctly, which meant taking a bunch of maps out).

Anyway, my theory on the problem isn't the maps (as maps will work when there's a limited amount of them in main), but rather the amount of cvars in memory. I've looked at gsc files in almost all of the maps and the mods running on the server and could not find a single empty cvar or improperly coded cvar statement. We also attempted pulling maps out to run maps that wouldn't run before and that would always seem to do the trick. We're now running a custom config with custom maps and it works fine, but it's very limited in the maps that are there.

Oh, this server also runs limited TDM, and an even distribution of RE and SD. We tried to get Gun Assault to work, but the server would loop (and thus crash - which may or may not be related... tested locally, there were no problems, but another story for another thread).

Sooooooo, any ideas? Anyone else have this problem and/or fix it?

Appreciate the help.

Set your pure setting to 0 and almost all will be resolved.

Now if the server is crashing, make sure you visit www.tactical-allied-command.com to get a reliable gametype support list for each map. The server crashes when some maps are run with the wrong game type.

Also verify that your maps are called in your map rotation by the name of the .bsp file, not the name of the .pk3 file. The pk3 file name has nothing to do with anything related to the map rotation. So use winrar or something like that to view the mp folder in the pk3 file to get the .bsp file name and use that. The name called isn't neccessarily, mp_(INSERT NAME HERE).

Here is the link to where I'd been asking these questions earlier:

That sorta defeats the purpose of pure with custom maps, doesn't it.... :dis:

Getting sick of this crap with pure, to be honest. Wish they would make up their mind... If they don't release PB and put an end to the need for pure anytime soon I'm going to have a caniption... :x
