Hello there everyone! I'm DrGuppy, the Eastern Front Mod's Public Relations guy. I'd like to apologize for not finding this site sooner because its a real nice one. I'm here to give a complete overview of the upcoming Eastern Front Mod and confirm that the first release will be in late Feb-early March. Here's the info on who we are and what we're all about :
(Sorry for the length, since I found this website today I'm cramming all the info and updates I've recieved from the EF Team over the past few months.)
We, the Eastern Front Mod Team, will strive through the coming months to deliver a multiplayer experience like no other. You will be put into the lives of soldiers who fought bravely against all odds in the largest life-consuming conflict of WWII. We also do it for the pure enjoyment of modding and interacting with the CoD community. With this being said I will now give you a taste of some but not all of the features of the upcoming Eastern Front Total Conversion Mod for Call of Duty!
Features:
(*Please note that not all of these features will be in the first release which is scheduled for late Feb-early March due to source code issues and the limited time before the first release)
-The Eastern Front Mod is designed to be a step forward in the realism department and put emphasis back on the team-based action we saw in the Call of Duty SP missions.
-Focus on the Russian and German armies and their immense sacrifices, accomplishments, and failures in the Eastern Front conflict.
-New realistic weapons including...
Russians:
-Degtyarev 1928 Machine Gun
-ROKS-3 Flamethrower
-SVT-40 Rifle
-Nagant Revolver
-M91/30 PE Sniper Rifle
-Maxim MG
-Tokarev TT Pistol
-PPs-43
-F1 Grenade, RG42 Grenade
-PTRS Anti-tank Rifle
-DShK-38 12.7mm Moveable Gun
Germans:
-Gewehr 43 Rifle
-Flammenwerfer 41/42
-Walther P38 Pistol
-MP41
-Moveable MG34, MG42
-The maps in the Eastern Front Mod will be entirely new, realistic, and much larger then the stock CoD maps. Here are a few we are currently working on. (Expect 3-4 entirely new maps for the first release) New maps exclusively from the EF Mod teams excellent mappers will include Stalingrad, Berlin, Operation Barbarossa, Brest-Litovsk Fortress, etc.
-A totally unique class system enabling players to choose what role they will play on the battlefield.
Here are the proposed classes for EF:
-Commander
-Rifleman
-Soldier (SMG)
-Medic (Russians will have female medics!)
-Engineer (flamethrower)
-Support Gunner
-Machine Gunner
-Sniper
-Anti-Tank Soldier
-Also we may include a Heavy Gun class which would include the DShK-38 12.7mm and a German Infantry Support Gun
-All classes will be limited so you don't encounter a 20-man team of flamethrowers. On a team of 20-25 expect to see a maximum of 1 commander, 5 SMG soldiers, 2 or 3 medics, 1 or 2 engineers (flamethrowers), 2 or 3 Support Gunners, 2 Machine Gunners, 1 or 2 snipers, 1 or 2 Anti-tank soldiers, 1 Heavy Gun and as many regular rifle soldiers as you want.
-Realistic movement based on the weight of the players weapons, no jumping or limited height realistic jumps. Player speed will be reduced from the current 'sprinting all the time' kind of play in CoD currently.
-Realistic ammo count, each soldier will start off with a realistic amount of ammunition based on the battle at hand. For example when battling for Stalingrad players will start with very limited ammunition to depict the length of the conflict and the desperation for both sides. In EF you will start with ammo for the first round and NOT recieve new ammo when you die, change classes, or start a new round. This will stop grenade spammers and spray and pray players because they will end up with no ammunition for the second round and be very vulnerable to the enemy. This being said some maps may include suppy depots, supply drops by air, etc.
-New gameplay modes which will include all-out charges, strategic assaults on heavily defended positions, battles of attrition where hand-to-hand combat is inevitable, etc.
-Destroyable objects, mortar bombardments, the ability to call in off-map air, and bomber support, weather effects, night maps where concealment is key and muzzle flashes will get you killed, and many other exciting features.
-Guns will sound, shoot, and handle like the real-life models with realistic reload times. This means for example if two enemy soldiers empty their magazines in a room and are still standing the soldier who engages in hand-to-hand combat will defeat the soldier who tries to reload.
-When picking up enemy guns or weapons that you do not have training in (eg. weapons from another class) you will take longer to reload and be less effective then the weapon you were assigned to. For example snipers will be very good at their weapon but will not know how to handle different weapons as well as the soldiers who specialize in them.
-New damage models will act realistically to mimic different wounds that the soldier recieves and how they affect his ability to fight. Medics will not be a quick fix and will not be able to save everyone from their wounds.
-A 'floating crosshair' will be used in EF, if you have the gun to your hip the crosshair (although invisible to the player) will be constantly moving so getting accurate shots from the hip will not occur on a regular basis. Because there will be no visible crosshairs in EF players will be forced to spray as they look for cover or take the time to squeeze off accurate shots using the weapons iron-sights.
-Hand-to-hand combat will be unavoidable and will sometimes determine the outcome of the battle. Grenades will have their throw-length shortened and be tweaked heavily to give them a realistic feel.
-Completely new voice commands by Russian and German speaking voice actors specially screened to give the two forces a realistic battle-hardened feel. Players will be assigned to one of many of our voices each round. Your soldiers voice will sound the same all the time and different from your comrades.
*Remember these will not ALL be in the first release but we are working hard to impliment as many features as possible for the late Feb-early March release.
We hope to give you a truly unique experience of what it was like to be a soldier on the Eastern Front of WWII.
