Eh, just what the title says. I'm desperately trying to stave off sleep at the moment so I whipped up a quick little cod admin script thingamajig. The url is http://erxz.com/ca/index.pl simply go there, enter ip/rcon and you can admin your server from there. So far it's really, really ugly, I'll add purty html goodness whenever I get around to it.

Current features:
View server status, list of players/scores/pings/etc
Kick players
Talk on server from console (little text box that says "talk")
Set an autorefresh rate to keep track of the server.

Hmm... something does not sit well with me going to a blank screen and putting in my servers IP address and rcon pass.

how about releasing the .pl file so we can host it on our own servers. I, like others here, am not going to put my servers's ip/rcon into someone else's website.

Being a developer of an rcon panel (DivCon) I know it's hard to get people to believe you that it's not just a package designed to steal passwords. I had several people come back and tell me that they didn't trust it but I pointed out three things to them.

- A lot of work went into it and it shows

- It's testing included the community right here in CoDAdmin.com.

- My phone number is available for a one on one if you find that the actual software transmits to anywhere other than your own server and that the ip packets are captured and sent to the community as proof.

If you are serious here you should post your IP and Rcon password so that we can see for ourselves that your system actually works, or at least post your script.

I could EASILY write a web based or even app based system to do what your doing and store the entries in a database. But what's the point? Besides getting a bad name, having rcon doesn't give you full control.....

- Even if you change the rcon password, a simple reset of the server will change the server back to the desired state.

FTP is the only way to damage a server in my opinion, and I'll be damned if I'm even gonna let my wife see that password :P

Anyways point is... make it more presentable, put effort into it, and provide a LIVE sample for people to see it in action. I dont have a doubt that your system would be popular if it had some backing, and I got backing by including these guys in the testing phase.

Have a gooder, hope it works out for you.

Heh, I could make it "more professional" but I bet idiots would still complain. I might make the pl script available, but eh, I'm just amused that 95% of these people whining in the thread will just blindly download closed source applications and type their rcon/ip in to the little boxes, which could steal it just as easily. *shrug* As to providing the script, sure, it's at http://erxz.com/ca.tar.gz, but once you have to download the script theres not really a point to it, you might as well download one of the vb apps.

As for the LIVE sample, how is that going to prove if it's stealing pws or not? Beyond that, I'll probably try to get it integrated with a hosts, but that will do more then just server admin stuff.

As to the rest of the idiots: How exactly are you going to admin the script without an rcon password? And how many of those little vb apps that you download have you read the source for and made sure that it's not stealing the pw? It would be just as easy for one of those things to steal a pw, but none of you complain about them.

Hey Buu, if you insist on calling people idiots take your stuff somewhere else. I also am in the group of "Idiots" that don't want to put my RCON's in your site.

Your choice chill out with the name calling or go elsewhere.

Ok let me get this straight. you come in here calling us all idiots because we critisize what you have done. Ok that's all fine an dandy but what you also need to understand is #1 calling people idiots just because they do not agree with the way you think makes you a ignorant fool in it's self. I wont go into that with you though because i'm not gonna turn this into a petty little flame war. #2 alot of these "downloads" are made by people with a rep in the comunity of getting out good quality programs. Some of these people i know of from mohaa an so forth. Being a known name helps alot in things like this becaue you have already built up a trust so to speak.

That's just my opinion on all this so take it for what you will..

Now see, that's a shame, buu. You make some good points but this is not the place to begin a flame war between vb and Perl supporters. I saw your message yesterday and intended to post a reply in support because, being a Perl programmer myself, I was impressed by what you'd put together. I have the luxury of having a development/testing COD installation and had no problem testing your script on it.

I encourage you to continue development of it if that's what you intend. If you want people to use it then try a little tact.

I'm confused, where exactly was I trying to start a flamewar between vb and perl?

No, I'm not calling people idiots because you criticize, I'm calling you idiots because of *what* you are 'criticiszing'. "OMG J00 C0ULD STEAL MY PW" is not a valid criticism, as it applies to every single downloadable admin program ever written, unless of course you download the source, read and understand the entire thing and then compile it yourself. *shrug*, if you do, more power to you, you can bitch. But all of these people would will blindly download some vb script and type in their ip/rcon and then think it's some how more secure then my script are, at best, idiots.

I gave you a chance go elsewhere now.

To be safe unless somebody can verify this, I would not use it
