Medal of Honor Airborne(tm)
Update Version 1.2 ReadMe File - December, 2007
================================================== ================
This patch for Medal of Honor Airborne raises the player count,
gives players more options for names, makes some balance changes on
the weapons and adds two new maps.
================================================== ================
New Features
================================================== ================
• Players can select "Remember Me" which will remember the user’s password
and username.
• Players can now set a clan tag that will prefix every instance of the
player’s name.
• Players can set an alias that will be display instead of the player's
Username.
• Games can be created by a dedicated server without a player cap.
NOTE: 12 player games are supported. Any player count that is highter is not supported
by EA and performance may be affected on low spec machines. We encourage players
to lower their game settings when playing in larger games.
• All in-game screens will show 24 players correctly.
NOTE: Teams can have more than 12 players, however only the top
12 players will show up on the scoreboard. The player will always be
able to see where they rank on the scoreboard regardless of the amount of people.
• Market Garden map is playable in all modes.
• Factory map is playable in all modes.
• Added more spawn points and second tier spawn points to prevent spawn
camping.
• Player ping times now show up on the scoreboard.
• Server name now shows up on the scoreboard.
• Increased chat text time on screen.
• Moved the chat text up above the compass.
• "Say" text is now white and "TeamSay" text is now yellow.
• Removed auto taunts when a player dies.

We just got our own server. We are going to play it. Not many people playing it from what I see. That could change if this patch works out. I installed the patch and the fixes are what I expected. I don't care about objective mode. The New maps look nice. Its still a bit laggy but I think its more of a driver issue.
I paid for it.. they seem to be truely fixing it so I will play it. I lost count of bad releases and not just by EA. IW jacked the community around with COD several times but seems thats ok for most. Personally I am used to bad releases and expect more from all the big names. It happens and will continue.

Do keep us updated maximus.
I don't have any time to do anything "fun" on the computer right now, with work and getting ready for CES this Jan.
I hope by the time they get around to 1.3, we will see people coming back. with any luck, EA will finally learn that they need to put out a quality product on day one, not day 102....

Feedback.. You can count on it. If it sucks you can bet I will tell ya. No time for fun.. Sound like me. I'm struggling to get all of my business paperwork, loans, land surveys, court house papers, bills etc down before weds so I can take a vacation for the first time in two years. Owning two businesses is anything but fun.
Hope you find time to have some fun..
I hear ya about EA.. but like I said. Its not just them and there will be more disasters. All we can hope for is people keep posting and putting pressure on them.. but if they fix things and people still don't support it I think you will find that they will feel it was a waste and not do it again in any future releases. Feedback in any business is critical. I pratically beg for people to give me feedback on my work. Its the morons and forum idiots that usually slow or nueter the response times from companies. I know when I get idiots talking trash I just ignore them. You didn't talk trash and they (EA) shold have listened.
All we can hope for is people keep posting and putting pressure on them.. but if they fix things and people still don't support it I think you will find that they will feel it was a waste and not do it again in any future releases.
I think you may miss the point here of not supporting the game now. I choose to NOT support it in hopes that the next game they will give us what they promise at the time of release, not months and patches later. I think that if you support it now, you are supporting the idea of releasing games that are not finished as promised. I realize all games have things that need to be fixed when it gets released, you can't beta test everything. But they came to the community and asked what we wanted and didn't give us any of it. It was made for console and they threw a bone at the pc community hoping we would eat it and we did. It was all about money and getting it out before cod4, because they knew that game was better than what they had.
I'm not saying I would never buy another ea title again. But will def not buy another ea title on day of release. With cod4 and frontlines around the corner, I can't even imagine anyone wasting time talking about Airborne, let alone playing it.
But maybe thats just me........

Good response it adds to the debate or discussion whichever you prefer to call it. Our actions are a crap shoot either way. EA could look at it my way or your way. I'm not endorsing EA, nor am I saying all is well. I buy a ton of games and out of many I thought were going to be hits.. most flopped. I'm just tired of everyone saying COD4 is so great.. Everyone got supremely jacked around with COD2 patches and no release of COD3 on pc. Remember the big PC Gamer outrage? The latest COD4 patches.. consisted of what a couple rank fixes? They fixed the sniper rifle? What about the other guns? What about lag and piss poor performance? Hardcore mode is a joke.
Nuff of that. Honestly all of this game BS is about to push me over the edge. Out of the last bunch of games I have bought... Company of Heroes Opposing forces, Quake Wars, COD4, MOH AB, World of conflict and a couple others I can't remember because they were that bad.. most are junk. One had potential and died (MOH AB) another I really liked (COH) was a buggy POS that has poor Doctrine layout and bad patches and COD4 reminds me of COD2 but modern and after looking closely at it thats what it is. I hated COD2. Laggy hacker delight. Quake wars reminds me of a future BF2.. that sucks. World of conflict is lame. COH is the only one I actually enjoy playing even though the new doctrines are idiotic because they have no defense capabilites. I had Crysis preordered and canceled it and I had plans to buy TF2 but not gonna do it.
I'm getting sick of gaming because of the crap games... constant hacking and the need to spend a ton of money every 6 months. The one thing I hate most about online gaming lately.. is the F'ng idiots! immature moronic premature ejaculating dumbasses. COD4 is Plagued with them.
I have one hope left... Duke Nukem. If that game sucks.. I am done gaming.
Sorry rudedog for the rant in your forums...
My update on the MOH AB patch.. New maps are way to big.. AB hardly supports 12 players and with more it gets laggy fast. The new maps need 24 players. They look awesome... but you get lost. Sniper haven.
Seems like old maps are more laggy now.. Install the patch and you have to redo all your controls. Pings are there but not accurate. I hate going to the main menu if I leave a server. I noticed in the new maps missing textures and graphics not drawing until you get closer to them... couple of my crew pointed it out as well. Still a few map glitches not fixed. Its still a shit sandwhich on a low end machine just not a soggy one. Its better.. but not what it should be.
I guess I am partial to Airborne for the simple fact that I prefer WWII era games. However with so few playing it and everyone hell bent on not playing it for bad release reasons I see it as being shelfed by myself soon if things don't pick up with it.
