View Full Version : Kicked by PB after 1.3 Patch
I haven't been able to stay on our COD4 server all day today. Everytime I log in, within 2 or 3 minutes I'm kicked for:
VIOLATION (IGNORING QUERIES) #9006 and
VIOLATION (COMFAIL) #132
Also, in the rcon for the server, I see where it says:
Punkbuster Client: O/S Exception Notice
After it displays that message 3, 4, or 5 times, I get kicked for the violations above.
I've done everything possible to try to work around this. I've disabled my firewall, bypassed my router, manually updated punkbuster, ran COD4 as an Administrator, and Unistalled/Reinstalled COD4. I'm at a loss as there are not any solutions I can find.
Everything was just fine last night even after the server was upgraded to 1.3. But when I got on today I started getting the PB errors. Seems like it all started with the 1.3 patch and the new punkbuster update.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I'm getting the same thing here. We've had several others get the same kick.

Some people are reporting the same issues while having xfire running.

I don't use Xfire.

You could try looking at your Windows services, and make sure the 'Punkbuster A' service is running and set to run automatically.
I was being booted from our server the other day, and found the service disabled when I checked. I put it down to having just done a Windows Update, and it got disabled in the process.
Worth a look ........

Exact same problem here. I restored my vista box to an earlier restore point, and that has seemed to fix it temporarily. I have filled out a support ticket at evenbalance, and here what they told me for the COMFAIL 132 problem:
"
Note #2: Please get the PB service component installer PBSVC from this URL:
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe
Save it to your desktop. You will need to start it with Admin rights.
On Windows Vista just being logged in as Admin is not enough. To start the file with Admin rights on Vista, select the PBSVC executable and right click it. Select "Properties", then the "Compatibility" tab. From that tab, check the box labeled "Run this program as an Administrator" and click OK.
Follow the install process and make sure it installs correctly. After that you will be able to play the game without the need of Admin rights. You only need to follow these steps only once (not for every PB supported game and not on each game start).
Please make sure you allow the service files in security software like virus scanners and/or firewalls. You will need to allow/unblock the services PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe from your "C:\Windows\system32\" folder. In case of doubt, manually add both to your firewall's allow list. After the installation process you will only find PnkBstrA, so just make sure this process file is not blocked. Then try playing on a PB enabled server, in case of a kick, check if PnkBstrB was created and unblock it too.
For more information on the PB service components refer to our FAQ:

I have not yet heard back about the 9006 error. It appears to be a problem with my router and PB.
I tried that too and it didn't work.
Ok, I finally tried the pbsvc.exe again. This time I used it to uninstall the PB service all together. Then reinstalled the service. I fired up COD4 and I don't get any of the O/S Exception notices anymore. It's been running for over 30 minutes now without kicking me. So far so good.
