I have a problem starting a dedicated cod4 server. Actually two similar problems:

the first problem is that my server has an old 8Mb graphics-card. Since I run a dedicated server it should not be a problem (It ran a dedicated COD2 server without any problem). BUT, starting a dedicated cod4 server will give a short full-screen black window (at least it does if I start a dedicated server on my gaming computer). The graphics-card obviously does not support this and the game crashes to the desktop. Is there any way to start a dedicated cod4 server without having to have a directx 9 graphics card in a server (which I think is a bit a waste of money)

the second problem is that I want to be able to start the server using remote desktop (as I did with COD2). RDP does not support directx. COD2 did not need directx to start a dedicated server (I can't think of a reason why it should need it) but cod4 apparently does. So is there a way to disable directx while starting a dedicated server?

I tried many different comamnds. Currently I'm using:

'D:\COD4\iw3mp.exe +dedicated 2 +map mp_crash + exec server.cfg +set net_port 28960'

Every thing works fine (I'm now running the server from my game-computer) it is just that annoying directx needed to start a dedicated server.

How does it work if you rent a server? Do these servers have dx support?

Have put the DX files in as mentioned in this thread http://www.fpsadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13492

As I said before I have all directx files needed.

I did test your file but is is nothing else than a directx install setup, I did install that before offcorse. (This file is the august version, november version is availeble as well but that did not work either)

So the question remains: how to solve this problem??

Thanks for the responses so far!

for the people trying to give an answer, (sorry that i dont know the answer, btw) i think he means the problem is not the software. he means the problem is his graphics card, in respect to directx. correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks Kkaionsg, that was indeed what I meant. But in the meantime, I solved the problem by deleting the entire 'video' folder in the \COD4\main folder.

@FPSadmin-admin: this thread can be closed, thanks!
