Backhat posted this info today on the official Airborne forums.
Hey guys - I wanted to clarify some stuff about the apparent invincibility some are seeing in online play.
The Pause menu "invincibility" only occurs on a respawn.
- Player is in the respawn queue
- They go into the player options screens
- While in those screens, if their respawn timer expires, their character could spawn in game, but would appear frozen and "invincible" to other users as they do not take damage in this state
- Once they exit the options screen, they would be in-game and vulnerable
This is the only time they would "invincible". During normal play, if you go into the Pause menu, you would still be vulnerable and can be killed, so it is isolated to the respawn + player options.
So there's no cheat with this and it's not really advantageous to players because they can't do anything to anyone else while in the options menu.
Hope that helps!
