Has anyone banned a player yet? The equivalent of COD's ban.txt file in the /main for non modded servers. COD4 is using the full 32 digit GUID and I tried putting that in a ban.txt file and it did not work. I did not want to add the guid to the pbbans.dat, was hoping there was a way of doing it in a flle like ban.txt. Any ideas? I hate to just ban someone randomly to find out where the game puts it and how it does it.

I tried to ban someone and it didn't work. I got a message saying that it wouldn't work because the ban.txt file was in the main folder. I moved that file up one level and it worked.

We placed the ban.txt file in the "Players" folder and all worked fine.

I don't see a "Players" folder in my CoD file tree. Is this a PB created folder? Where do we need to put it? My bans aren't working either.

Me too, I do not have a Players folder. Are you saying that there should be a Players folder in the same location as /miles and / main and/ mods and / pb?
Also is the structure what one would expect, the 32 digit guid and then comment (like player name) ?
I tried putting the ban .txt file up on level and it did not work for me

If there isn't one there already, create a folder "Players" in the same directory as the "main", "Docs", etc. Place your ban.txt inside that new folder.

now when you ban someone will it automatically create the ban.txt file in the players folder?
And what program are you guys using to open the pbbans.dat file?

Once you move or copy the ban.txt, it doesn't update with further bans.
Once it is in the 'player' folder, the ban works ............ yes ....... but if you ban someone else a new ban.txt file is created in the main folder or it is appended to the current file. You will then have to copy and paste it to your player folder again.
We had real problem with a guy tonight, we tried a kick then a ban and he kept coming back in ....... more angrier and more aggressive everytime. We looked like complete fools.

If you get a real asshat, give him a temp ban (you may want to increase the time) then go back later and do the copy/paste into the ban.txt for the perm ban.
I'd really like to hear some official word concerning this issue. This process has worked for us, but it isn't neccessarily user-friendly.

Does anyone know if patch 1.3 fixed this problem or not?

NO patch 1.3 doesn't seem to have fixed much at all really apart from sniper's no help for admins as usual mainly seem to be fixing single player problems

What is format that I need to put the player into ban.txt?
Like this? IP, Guid, Name, seq number.
66.57.60.xxx:61330 [943eeff2ddexxxxxxaca1cb3e43298f9] " ^1Bozo" (seq 8735153)

Patch 1.4 resolved the issue, bans now go into the correct ban.txt file in Main and are effective immediately. If you want to manually enter a new ban into ban.txt use this format:
943eeff2ddexxxxxxaca1cb3e43298f9 Bozo
The GUID is the only thing that's important, name is optional. Make sure GUID is listed first.
