Hi guys my clan has decided to take on Call Of Duty 4 and i need help with the admin of the server. I will be ordering it today and have a few questions.

1. Is there an "In-Game" admin tool for it?
2. Can i get a list of rcon commands for it?
3. I want to run it as a "Hardcore Server" is there a stock cfg for it or what settings do i need to make?
4. How do i set it to force auto assign and even teams?
4. Is it possible to set advertisements in it for my clan web page and rules etc?
5. Is it possible to set up sub admins to allow to kick and change map?

Not much eh ;)

Thanx In Advance

1. No, but you have ingame rcon and there is already a remote admin tool released.
2. There is a list in these forums, look for "Rcon login anyone?".
3. Hardcore is a stock game dvar, its should just be a matter of turning it on in your server cfg. Standard settings is always a good place to start.
4. Team balancing can be done thru the server cfg.
4. You can run messages ingame from punkbuster for now, waiting for a remote messaging tool at this time.
5. Only thru punkbuster using PB Power points. Otherwise you have to share the rcon password.

Is there any way to run a server, and play at the same time?
If so, how?

I normally start the rcon software before I start playing. If I need to admin the server I'll Alt-Tab to desktop. Do what needs doing then Alt-Tab back to the game. If I'm quick I'll not be kicked...

Not a great solution, way back when we used to play CS:S we ran a real sweet system. Completely server side, run from the players GID. Different amount of control for different people. All done without leaving the game. Not everything gets better as time passes...

Rconmax (http://rconmax.com) will let you assign remote admin privileges based on GUID for CoDMW and CoDWaW

forcing auto assign can only be done with a mod - Ace (http://wildcardonline.nl), Awe (http://raidersmerciless.com), eXtreme (http://mycallofduty.com) are the big 3.

Grab a set of stock configs and you'll see Hardcore

set scr_hardcore 0 // 0=off 1 = on

But it takes a mod to force onscreen hud - if you want it - when running hardcore.

Hardcore lowers maxplayerhealth to 30 - you can leave hardcore set to 0 and lower this setting to whatever level - plus runs a clean hud.

set scr_player_maxhealth 100

Openwarfaremod (http://openwarfaremod.com) has a sponsor or logo feature for their CoDMW mod.

I need something to run this stuff on Mac. I am an Apple gamer, and my clan is wanting to start running a server to recruit on and such.

I could say something caustic about trying to use a Mac for gaming, but seeing as I also game on a Linbox as well as Windows I shouldn't laugh.

Can you run Windows apps on some type of emulator like I would use wine with Linux?

I could, but that seems a bit too time and resource intensive. Thank you for sparing the malicious remarks about Mac.

I did find a mac program... but I need to figure out how to dedicate a server and run it.

From what I have read it looks very much like some of the Win Rcon tools. You tell it the IP and RCON password and the rcon commands are neatly displayed. Linking commands that give you a list of players and buttons that take action against the selected player. To be honest all you need while playing is Warn Kick Ban map change fast restart and restart... It gets a little more tricky if you are admin-ing a match.

The Rcon tool I use also helps you setting the server up. Although I still prefer to edit the files on the server by hand.

On a side issue do the mac players play on the same servers as the Windows guys? Not something I have thought about before... It can't be easy with such low spec G/Cards with the large screens Apple fit to most of their systems, a lot of pixels to push.

Yeah, we do play on the same servers. THanks, I just need to figure out how to run a dedicated server for my clan.

The 24" iMacs run an ATI Radeon 2600 Pro, about a middle of the road card. Not that low, can play at max specs.
