CoD4 Rcon Utility released.

Heads-up to all you server admins out there: I've just released my first build of my CoD4 Rcon Utility. It's called ModernRcon. Below are some screenshots for your viewing pleasure.

Features:
View server information (gametype, map, name, players, etc).
Kick, Ban, TempBan, and monitor players.
Restart Map, FastRestart Map, Load next map.
Load a selected map from a list of maps.
Manually enter commands into the console and read responses.Basically, I want to have some of the most basic functionality out there and being tested in this first release - that includes the Players tab, Maps tab, and Console tab. The Console tab is so that if there is something you want to do which I don't have a button for (yet), then you can type it in manually.

Future Features:
Server List for saving credentials.
Tabbed server browsing (monitor multiple servers from one program).
Additional controls: Gametype controls, Map Rotation controls, other arbitrary DVAR controls.
Auto-refresh intervals.

Thanks JD! Awesome job! I hope you are taking some time to play the game, its a blast! :)

Anyways, just wondering if you have a timetable as to when the next version will be released with the ability to have messages and change gametypes ?

Works good as it is.

A few things that would be cool..

1. Allow changing of gametypes (I know you can do it from rcon, but a simple click is cool also ;))
2. When you click "Save List" format the file for us lazy folks... also including the GUID in the save would be good.
3. When you click on the column header, sort it.
4. All the usual weapon enable/disable things.. also warn if the selected changes will effect the ranking system.
5. Here's a biggy that may require a bit of work.. have a button "PunksBusted Search".. when this button is clicked, then logon to PunksBusted using your clan ID/pw and search for the selected player (I've done this in PHP, and I'd be happy to share that code).

Other than that, it's a fine utility. Thanks for sharing.

I had opportunity to play with this a bit yesterday.


A few suggestions.


1) As mentioned above change gametypes ( via a saved map rotation locally) Then just clik it and it sends the map list to server for on the fly rotation set changes.

2) Some are not command line savvy so maybe a dropdown with the major Rcon commands listed so it's as easy as point and click to execute some basic ones.


Other than that this thing runs good and has not crapped out like some of the older utilities out there.

I like the simplicity. I'm just looking for something that my admins can use other then the console in game and they don't need anything other then say, kick, temp ban and ban.

It'd be nice to be able to set up multiple servers and save the information but it's a start.

What was that old rcon program that had a menu system that integrated right into the original COD? You didn't even have to leave the game. Just escape out and select the rcon tool from the game menu.


Something like that would be nice for COD4.

for some reason I cant get it to install on my computer...It shows an error and won't allow it to install.. Is there something that I am missing or something...feed back would be great thanks.

It did the same thing to me. Udpate/Install java and that should correct it.

There is no install. It's a java app, so you probably need to go to java.sun.com and get the latest java runtime.

Actually JD over at CoDHQ made it, although Rude did have a hand in it by allowing it to be posted here.

Note, I've received several inquiries about using my old Message Center mod in new CoD 4 mods. Of course I gave permission and am looking forward to what these guys do.

where do I need to put this folder in order for it to operate. My first server and this learning curve is a little steep. Thanks for any help.

you can put it where ever you want runs from in folder on desktop or drop folder into programs files and send a short cut to desktop or star menu

hmmm, it just sits there on my desk top in its pretty little zip folder on does nothing. I am doing something wrong and don't know where to start to fix it. I got a 32 slot server and just want to run Headquarters Hardcore on it and just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Unzip it to a folder then run the exe .

it says ---- "the compress file is corrupted or invalid" . I've d/l it a number of times and get the same results.

I just redownloaded it and checked. The file is fine for me. Are you unzipping/extracting it to a folder or trying to run it from within the zip file?

Great job, we'll keep an eye on it too. Was using CoD2 rcon but obviously it was lacking for CoD4.

this was really what i was looking for, great tool.
How and where to I put server messages in my server files instead of typing them into this tool and keeping it open?

you can paste you messages into the consol by right clicking and coping your message from a text document then put cursor in the text field in the cod4 utility and press Ctrl and V together (at the same time) to paste it in.
Best save all your messages into text document so you dont loose them for the next time you boot up the utility

Why is it that everytime I ban someone it kicks them, and a couple minutes later they're right back on our server? I looked in the ban.txt file on our server and they are listed there.

I'm using modernrcon and I can't even get the guid from it to do a pb ban. Are there any cc's out there like BF2cc for Battlefield2? Seems like it's so much more difficult to rcon with COD4.
