Try moving the password before the IP. That is how it is done from the broswer.

yes works fine thank you
second part of this is there a way to attach this to the exe so you don't have to enter console.

yes, copy your MP shortcut and:
As well as the /rcon login password you can put the login in your shortcut target line as well.
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" +password **** +connect ***.**.***.***
That will connect you into a private slot to a specific server.

ok to confirm /connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxxx; password xxxxxxx is the string to paste into cosole
and "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" +password xxxxxxxx +connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxxx is how to add it to your shortcut might be an idea to create new shortcut and rename it to private slot. connect.

Your console string is incorrect. The password must be before the IP.
Yes, call the shortcut Private Slot, I do - :)
