Most of the cfg's that I've seen all have the server rate at 5000. My config_mp.cfg in my player profile has the rate at 5000 but COD2 servers always ran best at 25000. I currently have my COD4 servers set at 25000 but I'm not sure that's best considering these other instances of it being 5000.


Does anyone know for sure what it is supposed to be?

(disregard the downloadable excel file as I have to find it again and upload it, that post is over 2 + years (it says 2005 but that is when we moved the boards to FPSadmin)

Update, I found the old maxrate page I created and have uploaded it back to the server. So you can now use the link on that page. You have to have excel installed and view the page via IE. Firefox or Opera will not work.

Just enter the info and follow the spread sheet.

So how do I figure in a Internap supposedly almost unlimited figure into these equasions. I'm dealing with a dedicated server on a newly upgraded to the latest and greatest connection here.

So far most of the other people have all said that they're running at 25000. A couple have said that it's not needed and to go with something along the lines of 10,000.

Seems no one knows for sure what IW expected us to use at this point.

I guess the only thing to do is to try the server at various rates to see what runs the best.

maxrate is based on the upload speed of the box, where ever it may be connected.

If you can remote desktop into the box and run a test via dsl reports or one of your local fav. online speed testers.

Normally for a good connection being hosted via a data center 25000 is fine, it's when your speed is limited that max rate plays more of a factor in a good running server.

So I guess it stays at 25,000. I noted the Thunderdrome IW employee server was set on 5000 on Monday which is part of why I was asking. Wondering if I'm wasting resources.
