Hardcore & Compass

We set our server up to run in Harcore mode. We don't like all the console-ish on-screen junk, including the enemy radar, the crosshairs, etc. Only problem is that Hardcore mode also eliminates your compass. I can understand the reasoning for eliminating all the other stuff, but the compass? How are you supposed to operate as a team without a compass? "Enemy approaching from the.... uh..... left?"

Does anyone know how to keep the compass active, while losing the rest of the on-screen stuff, and keep the server ranked? Is this possible? If not, maybe this is something IW can add in a patch down the road.

Or are we off base here and it is fine like it is?

ah.. in the real world you dont have time to pull out your compass and get a bering on the enemy!!! you just shout "TO THE LEFT!!"

In the real world, I know which way is north. I'm a cop in real life and I deal with compass directions all day long, and I have never owned a compass.
