Anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?
Whenever I start the game I get an error window that says iw3mp.exe has encountered a problem........

Did you download the latest version of Direct X? It requires that.

go to control panel/admin tools/event viewer.

Click Application and find the application error from the same time your game crashed.

Double click on it. It will tell you the faulting application and the faulting module.

Let us know what that says.

Faulting application iw3mp.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module mssmp3.asi, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00001292.

Dang, this is not what I was hoping it would be. Any other errors in there around the same time?

I did see something related to it where one person solved it by turning their crossfire off as well.

Faulting application iw3mp.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module mssmp3.asi, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00001292.

I had this with the demo. I simply removed the mssmp3.asi file. Keep it in a safe place incase you encounter other issues.

I was thinking of the same thing Lod. Problem is that his error would have reflected mssmp3.asi as the faulting module if that were the case. Simple enough to try though just to be sure.

Those ways don't always work for each individual. So I went out and bought a video card and walla! MP worked just fine. Must be the integrated audio devices that screw it up. Well hey it was worth it and thanks for the help all! :p

There are some issues running CoD 4 multiplayer on some onboard sound cards. If you have a RealTek(TM) onboard sound card and Windows(R) Vista you should try removing your sound card drivers and allow Windows Vista to install it's default sound drivers. Please make note of the make and model of your sound card prior to removing it in order to aid in reinstallation at a later date.

To remove your sound card drivers do the following:

Open the control panel link from the start menu
Check the programs and features tool to see if your sound card drivers are listed here
If they are not open the system tool in the control panel
Click on the device manager task on the left
Locate your sound card in the list, it should be in the sound, video, and game controllers section
Right-click on the sound card name and select Uninstall.
If you have a Sigmatel® onboard sound card you will need to install all Windows® Vista updates, and the latest Sigmatel drivers from www.dell.com. Please navigate from the dell homepage to support, your make and model computer, and look for a sound card update.

If you are running the game from a secondary partition, download the latest BIOS updates from your motherboard manufacturer in addition to following the above instructions.
