I searched for this in the forums and couldn't find it, so forgive me if this is a double post.
I recently installed Windows Vista and CoD2. When I first started the game it would crash to desktop.
A quick search of the net found the solution, run in compatibility mode.
Once I got that running I found the mother of all hurdles....punkbuster.:o
EVERY time I would check the box to enable punkbuster my game would crash to desktop. I tried every solution I could find on the net including running as administrator, changing file permissions on the game's directory, and updating punkbuster. NOTHING worked.:confused:
So, I went into my profiles cfg file and turned on punkbuster manually. Viola! Works like a charm now!
Just thought I'd share incase anyone else had similar issues.:salute:
