If you host or are an admin for a Dedicated server.. then this is for you...

I am a HOST for several COD servers. These servers cost me and my supporters hundreds of dollars and hours. We do it for fun, not for profit.

The recent patch from IW illustrates a very Frustrating Topic I have been ranting about for some time now..

For Matters of ONLINE GAMMING, the very essential backbone and control of an ONLINE gamming community and hence CUSTOMER BASE is the people that actually fund and operate these ONLINE servers.. Who does this? HOSTS do.. be it one person or a group of players that chip in... be it a clan or a single guy running public non affiliated servers.. It is the HOSTS that are the very foundation for making online FPS gamming possible.. The exception is of course outfits like blizzard which provide all the resources and servers for their customers. The burden of these costs and recources with a game like COD rests not with the game provider, but the HOSTS.

It stands to reason then that the HOSTS should have a unique way to communicate with the Developers/Gamming companies that sell for profit the games HOSTS, host for at their OWN expenses. It stands to reason that HOSTS who support and promote the interests of a FOR PROFIT product/company should have a means to communicate and maintain a mutual relationship with the vendor.. Yet I don't see this happening in a practical sense and it’s very frustrating. The VERY people that make this online gamming possible have to take a back seat with the 1000's of other voices, most of just have a passing interest and only offering childish bable griping about specific CHARACHTEREISTICS of gameplay.

I say this not to knock the gamer that is not a part of the hosting process but rather point out a rather blatant lacking of important communication between Host and Game Provider/developer. Honestly I don't know of a solution to this but really want to hammer home this problem for all to consider.. The chaos of thousands of posts and the way in which ALL THOSE voices are weighed together (or lost together in ) .. be you a host for 20 servers or a 14 Y/O who likes SMG'ing once in awhile is debilitating.

Myself and my clan players left MOH and were turned off from EA for this very reason.. so much chaos and lack of communication it seemed EA would take the " AVERAGE" of 1000 rants on public boards by young casual playing kids on what to do next.. I shudder to see some similarities in IW's patch. And much more disturbing is changes midstream which have no easily accessible toggle feature for HOSTS.

Do any other HOSTS/ADMINS etc see this disparity? Is there or will there ever be a solution? Consider it, as you send in your next 150$ payment to sustain your server expenses.. Someone out there is making money off you my friend, and all we Ask for in return is for some recognition for our efforts and some control over that which we supply.
