Blackhat has posted on the official forums this evening.
Hey everyone –

I wanted to update you all regarding updates to Airborne. I’ve been working with several people on the team, as you know, to go through your various concerns. I’m happy to say we’re really close to releasing another patch.

We’ve been working with a few select GSPs on an update to the dedicated server offering that is much friendlier to set up and run. The community and GSP feedback we’ve received has been extremely helpful, and the constructive conversations we’ve had with many of you have proven very valuable. The updates are completed, but to make sure things are ready to go, we’ll be doing a small beta of the new package with those GSPs this weekend.

On Monday, I’ll be releasing a list of what changes will be in the Dedicated Server update, and I’ll be giving you more information on the release date. If the beta testing goes well, we’ll release the files early next week. However, if any new bugs show up, we’ll obviously have to address those as necessary before we release. We know this update is extremely important to you guys, so we want to address everything that we can before releasing it wide.

Additionally, I’ve been talking with Patrick Gilmore about many of your concerns. When we release the dedicated server files, I’ll also be posting a blog from Patrick that speaks to some of your concerns, including future support of Medal of Honor Airborne. Once again, I want to express my thanks to those of you who’ve been patient and cooperative with us. Your constructive feedback has been extremely valuable in moving ahead, and it’s been very motivating to the team.- Source: Official EA forums (http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jspa?messageID=2974778)

A day late and a dollar short if you ask me. It still doesn't change the fact that the gameplay sucks. IMHO of course.

I think Gilmore is posting a blog addressing concerns solely because of the thread rudedog posted over at EA. 35+ pages of bumps can't be ignored. With all the complaints thus far his job may be on the chopping block and he's doing what he can to save his own skin. I can't believe how arrogant they are. WTF makes them think people will believe what they say now? They think we're all stupid and gullable and that we'll believe anything. I wish someone would kick Gilmore's ass.

Last count I saw was 500+ complaints filed with the BBB against EA. May not all be about Airborne but I bet a majority of them are. That can't be ignored either.

not that they would ever admit it... :X

As I posted over there... "Thankyou BlackhatAA.

I sincerely hope that Patrick will be able to outline a plan of action going forward with this game and what type of support he will be placing behind that effort. The mere fact that he will be personally adressing this issues is quite heartening indeed, but it will take more than vague statements of intent and placating dulcet tones. Some goals and timeframes would certainly be appreciated along with an indication of what areas of the game will be addressed.

This is indeed an interesting and positive turn of events; let's hope it is not an isolated event. "

More empty words and hollow promises will NOT be enough.

its interesting but i just think in this patch or whatever is only for GSP,s so that they can set up multiple servers in a deacent way. too late tho most interest for Airborne is gone by th genral public and with all the newer games comming out with good abilities for MP te more interest will drop for Airborne.

and again its sad that we talk about this game in the way we do as a lost cause but thats EA,s own foult thewy had to start out from day one with the MP and not trying to create one after you finshed your product.

i am curius about the fix list tho..

While I'm interested in what is planned for this patch and who is testing it, I still have to wonder why this happened?

Right now with out any info from EA, it seems that they pushed this out to beat several other titles to release and are now scrambling to fix things. They really did not care about the customer in regards to releasing a finished and polished product, or have a clue what we as admins and GSPs wanted. Don't even get me started with the whole "tell us your server wish list. It seems that EA's Army of Two has been delayed very late in the game to fix issues and polish the game, why not a title such as MOH? Don't even get me started on "well the customer did not want us to delay the game again". You're damn right, how many times did they delay the game in the first place? How many features have been dropped not to mention, all of the server sided, MP stuff?

Funny but after seeing how they handled the UK Crysis preorder: "get your instant MP beta key when you pre order" about a month ago, how they say "it's very difficult to work with our over seas offices" or how they state "we can't release any info regarding the next Airborne patch, until it passes QC" all say the same thing. EA as a company is run terribly from the top down.

Not to mention, I can't get an answer from EA regarding pre ordering Crysis via the EA store and backing that copy up, or the whole 24 hour exclusive Crysis MP demo. Hell I'll take a simply placed phone number for the EA store but that would be asking too much.

If everyone would have waited until the game was ready and only purchased after this 2nd patch was released, think about how much money we would have saved.

Come on EA let us know what you're releasing as a patch so we can see if it's worth the wait, we have already paid you in full.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Wonder who the favorite "gsp's" were. Makes me wonder if AOWC was one of them. Hope the hell not.

But so far if I read this right this patch is just for gsp's and the running of dedicated servers. I also wonder if the player counts have been increased. Hell front lines fuel of war supports 24 out of the box ( beta ) and it uses the same UE3 engine.

That whole Crysis "exclusive instant MP beta access" fiasco is typical for EA. Take a great game, botch the release beyond all comprehension, throw their hands up and say "we don't know what happened". Besides the trashy releases they throw out there, the worst thing about EA is the support aspect. Once they get your money right or wrong it's a PITA to get it back. It will test every ounce of patience you have. But that is their Modus Operandi. Thats how they do business. We all should know that by now. They lie and then claim ignorance when you call them out on it. I went back and forth with support for well over 3 weeks to finally get a non-generic response to getting a refund for Airborne. Pathetic to say the least. I won't say never to buying another EA game. I'm gonna buy what makes me happy and no one else. But I will not buy anything from them without demos and reviews first. I am going to be very cautious with them because I know how they conduct business. Something has to give with EA. They can't keep going on like this forever. Someone with a brain needs to step in and take the reigns. Are you up to the task Jim?

I would love to work for say EA only if, I could call the shots, however after seeing how many of these issues bridge all EA games, I have a feeling the issues we see with Airborne are even above Patrick

Is IW / Activision hiring? :hand:

yeah wel im kinda wondering this if the scoreboard is hardcoded into the engine and its impossible to show more then 12 players what good is it that you run a server that has more slots you cant view your score.

stil the game makes no use of a querie protocol so there is no way that you can recieve info about the server and the players etc etc.

good for gsp,s lol wel porbably the made the setup the same as it was but know you can add an ip to it but the rest will stil be the same.

no gamespy on all seeying eye no hlsw no whatever third party server viewing support not to mention about the drops on new content a map editor http redirect or autodownload new gametypes etc etc.

dedicated servers is EA,s main proirety whats supposed to be in the game from day one not added after your released the finished product lol im ranting again still upsets me when i hear all this about airborne last night one guy said there where only 68 players online how can you expect from that low number Airborne will rise or grow its too late.

Last I saw figures on this, there were about 70 players for 100+ MOHA servers. Why the hell would anyone waste their time trying to fix it now? The priest gave it last rights, the embalmers have done their thing, and the casket is in the ground with flowers (mainly dandylions) piled all around it. :hand:

Ok, so they get it so its not totally unacceptable for the GSPs. It still sucks. Too few maps. Minimalist admin tools. No in game rcon. Only Allies have fun. And Punkbuster is already leaking like a sieve. This patch will only reveal the next layer of pain.

They want to break into console on line game play (the reason for this patch and its focus - in case you guys thought it was for your benefit). That's nice.

ZZZzzzzzzzzz.

thats the thing unholy_destroyer
they have to fix that sever browser ... that thing is right up there with the worst i've ever seen

i agree guys .. i think the game is dead ... but ... that just means that i dont think it will ever be to the scale that i had hoped for .

i think if they get it rolling the game could bounce back .... cod4 is not WW2 ... so they have a open slot in some peoples mind ... do i think they ever will = nope
i have hope though .. i think we all do or we wouldnt be here
when its all said and done .. i think they are still riding the coat tails of 2015/IW.. they are still preying off our emotions for moh:aa .. cause i was there (with my little playstation that could) and the multi. for moh and moh:underground sucked bad , thats why we played syphon filter in this area ... moh:aa was the best of the moh titles

i'm still mad at myself for buying moh:a .. last EA game a bought was spearhead ... you can bet i wont be getting crysis
i dont care how "ground breaking" it is

***edit***
i like what Rungis said about spearhead
i said .. it sucked we paid $30 bucks for custom maps that we had for free
he said " tell me about i made the map (thunder) and still had to pay $30 "
i dont like to use the LMAO thing .. but i did here (in chat)

OK, no flames. I honestly appreciate the truthfulness. However, the nagging questions remain.

Can you truthfully state that the "beta test" currently being performed is a true, all encompassing, beta test where the large majority and variety of situations normally encountered are fully tested? Or, is it just another maneuver to make it appear they're going about "testing and fixing", while actually stalling for time to "prop up sales" to those who unwittingly will think they'll be able to get that "magic bullet" fix all patch?

I'm sorry, EA and Gilmore's management of this entire fiasco from the very start at the Summit, the subsequent results including the idiotic shunning of those who offered truth about the shortcomings of the PC MP side, has been a disastrous accident looking for a place to happen. The accident has happened and there are no survivors.

After Pacific Insult and now, MOH:Stillborne... I simply do not trust nor do I believe EA at all.

Especially after the "so-called" refund deal where people have to jump through hoops to get a refund. EA should simply ask that the boxed versions be sent directly to them and they'll send a refund back to the sender instead of making the refund process involved and difficult. EA is an expert at "shell games". Making it difficult discourages ppl from seeking refunds! When I see the public apology from EA, Gilmore and "the bunch" involved in MOH: Stillborne, then and only then will I consider anything about EA worthwhile again.

Thanks guys, can you say that the patch improves the "server side" enough to make it worth a GSP or clan to rent or run this game now?

Any gameply improvements or is this all foundation fixes so to speak?

I think the communication from EA side is poor, if they would of at least gave updates on the patch people that want to play the game may be interested but I think for many of the people they have givin up including myself I have already uninstalled the game and will just wait for CoD4.

I think the game has too many problems even one patch can not fix.

A day late and a dollar short. I don't think people will accept a game being released anymore that is this poorly prepared. No more buying it to play test it, EA is a shitty company run by shitty people. Gilmore is just another useless cog in a ponderous insensitive blind machine. I and my clan will not buy any more EA products or purchase any servers running EA products. We have bailed on MOHA and will not even contemplate Crysis.

To Blackhat , Gilmore and the entire EA development team. YOU FAILED MISERABLY! The ineptitude of this release and the utter incompetence of the entire development team from each individual mindless drone programmer up to that lying sack of shit Gilmore and everybody in between is simply mind boggling. I've seen better game development and support with "Deer Hunter IV". You FOOLS have ruined yet another game that could have put you on top of the charts for game design. You let stupid, short sighted, useless, bean counters dictate the direction of this game and all they managed to do was guide it right into an open grave. My money and my entire clans money and the money of EVERYONE I ever meet that I have any influence over will go to any game company but EA! You haven't just managed to loose my business on this one release, you've managed to piss me off so badly with your lies and manipulation that I will hold a vicious grudge against everyone one of you for as long as I play games.

Do not take this as a stab at you nor Leetservers.

But this is the very reason on why the current flame wars and the out right lets smash everyone is happening. Leetservers is not the badguys here, its EA being so tight liped and not keeping the community as a whole "informed" of what the hell is going on.

EA did this all to themselves and they alone are to blame. If this info and more was released then you wouldnt see the flame wars going on.

For EA to goto GSP's fine I can live with that and do understand it 100 percent. But for EA to goto a "clan" and tell them the goods and yet keep it from the general public is wrong.
