I thought I'd share with you the last resonse I have received from EA Tech Support regarding what are supported server operating systems. I originally raised the call because everytime I restart the server I get an error message stating that the MOHAServer.exe failed to load and I can't find where to stop it auto loading.

This is my 4th response from them, the first 3 were annoyingly auto generated responses i.e. update graphics drivers etc.

Hello,

Thank you for writing Electronic Arts Technical Support.
I’m sorry to hear you’re still experiencing trouble with Medal of Honor Airborne. This site usually do not support issues from the use of dedicated server, but I will try to assist you as best as I can. The dedicated server program was designed to run on existing files of the MOH: Airborne, so it would have the same requirement with the game (minus the video requirement). This dedicated server was designed to run only on Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista. XP or Vista 64 bit operating systems is not supported. This dedicated server was not tested on Windows 2003 Server so we really can't guarantee that it would run. None of our games support this operating system so we really don't have one for me to test it on, but I will try to replicate your issue as best as i can.

Was the game installed to this server or was it copied? If it was copied, would you please re install Redistributable/vcredist_x86.exe on your MOHA DVD disk.
Have you tried removing All traces of the game off the server, reinstalling the game, repatching to 1.1, then installing the dedicated server software?
Are you running this server remotely?

About your other question on the MOHAServer.exe starting up with Windows, I will need to check on this further. If this is not necessary, I will let you know how to prevent it from loading with Windows.

Let us know here at EA Technical Support (http://Support.ea.com) if you require further assistance about this or any of our other products and services.

From,
Ben M.

The interesting line is None of our games support this operating system

This is what happens when you don't take into consideration how and why GSPs run they way they do.

I know Bullet raised this questions during field testing but I don't think there was any follow up to his concerns.

Have you tried running the exe in xp compatibility mode?

I will try that, thanks.

The strange thing is... the server runs fine, its only crashed once in a week, it's just when I restart the box the MOHAServer.exe tries to launch with windows and there is nowhere that I can find to turn it off.

Personally I'd rather start each exe/programme as I want. I've gone through MSConfig, startup, scanned the registry etc and it's just not there.

I just found it astonishing that they don't seem to have considered who would be running the dedicated servers and on what OS. Perhaps this may make them think about it in the future. Doubtful I know.

if you can't see it as part of msconfig, check to see if it's running as a service.

You may be able to set it to manual from automatic.

Lol tried that one too, the only game related items in the services are for PB. I'll let you know what EA come back with.

BH has posted that they're working on fixing the DS so have pm'd him my ticket number, not to get it done any quicker but so the dev's can see what 'rea'l issues there are running the servers so someone else doesn't have to put up with it. It's more annoying than a critical issue.

Some Help

Hey everyone - since I'm so swamped these days, I've asked Matt Pruitt of Planet Medal of Honor to help out around here. He's going to be working with me to help keep the forums clean, and he'll be helping to gather info from you guys for me so that I don't get behind. An extra set of hands is always a good thing :)

This will also help moving forward in the coming months as I have to take time off for the birth of my baby. I don't want you guys to be ignored during that time, so Matt will be helping me out there.

Thanks!

You star! that fixed it! A big sloppy kiss on its way from England x :D Changed the shortcut, rebooted, no error.

When I get the next response from EA I'll let them know.
