View Full Version : Valve Delisting Servers
Ok all over at the steam forums there is numerous postings about Valve delisting 32 player TF2 servers. Well to my amazment it is true.
Run up your steam client and use the server browser ingame or out and all the 32 slot servers are now gone. If you had them in your fav listing then they are not effected.

Seemingly true...I had a couple as favorites and they're gone. TF2 is absolute mayhem on a 32 slot server...:D

While I've log some time in with TF2 when home, what's the deal?
Are 32 player servers hacked servers?
Yes the dll or .so file has to be hex edited to allow for more than 24 players. Now while I can see doing this is a injunction against hacking the game files I do not see why on the other hand.
Its been posted/asked/requested and well you just name it for the past several weeks. There is alot of players who wants to play on 32 slot TF2 servers. Now that Valve is doing this gives me the creeps. Its like imposing their will on others.
Whats going to happen next year, FORCED 16 or 12 slot servers. Now you will see why DoD Source aint doing to good right now. This very same thing was imposed on it by Valve and guess what happened. Poof the game started to fizzle out and players/admins left.
Is TF2 going to see the same fate, time will tell.

Thanks for the heads up Wiz, i did not know that.
I would hope Valve sees that their customers want these larger servers and release a fix for it in the next patch.
Now if this was EA or Activision I could see getting worried, but Valve always seems to offer what their customers want.
Let's hope we see another patch real soon, with 32 players support.
Here is a update:
PC meet Console
Ok folks as I have reported Valve started to delist the TF2 servers that where using a hacked dll or .so file to bump up player counts. This is hot off the press and you aint going to like it.
As of today I have decided to wait to buy any further Valve products. If that product does NOT support 32 or more players then I am going to pass. This is why:
Subject: [hlds_linux] Consoles playing with PCs in TF2

Again, I pose the question now that the game is released. Are Xbox 360s using the same dedicated servers for gameplay as PCs? I found an interview with Doug on IGN that suggests that cross-platform playing was done, but I still don't know if that's just for LAN play, or if they're using our servers. From the
interview:
*Robin Walker*: So the Xbox one, we have people in on Xboxes, while you were playing [referring to IGN] there's people playing on Xbox 360s.
*IGN: In that play session we just did? *
*Doug Lombardi*: Yeah there's always at least one guy, in there, that's an Xbox 360 guy.
*IGN: So you're actually playing now on Xbox 360s connected to PCs? *
*Doug Lombardi*: Technically it's done.
The Real Reason
Here it is right after Valve delisted the 32 player TF2 servers guess what? An all BRAND NEW forum popped up
You guessed it!!
XBOX360 Discussion
What was the very first and currently the ONLY forum in there, again, you guessed it.
The Orange Box
Now I await the ban hammer from the Steam forums because of this.
Also, what I find deeply troubling is; After I have been raising all out hell about this and posting posts from the hlds_Linux mailing list that now, for the past 2 days almost I have not received mail from said mailing listing. Weird huh, weird that when I posted the whole, "lets connect the PC and Xbox360 together", issue from the hlds_Linux mailing listing that I am no longer getting said mail listing topics and what not.
Did Valve pull my plug on that too because I exposed them for what it really is. Don't know but I will be doing some mail tests today to sort out why I am no longer receiving hlds_Linux mailing topics. You wouldn't guess what topics I was posting about
You guessed it!! :wink2:
TeamFortress 2 and using Windows Live ( Vista OS ) to hookup PC and XBOX360 player and get this playing what game now
You guessed it again!
TeamFortress 2
And what cannot the XBOX360 handle? Once again you guessed it! Any server that is greater than 24 players.
Yes they can connect to 24 or less player servers but anything more than that then they can NOT play on. Pretty funny huh. Now it all makes sense about why Valve screwed the PC server admins and PC players over.

And now the UPDATE:
Well folks guess what they did over at the STEAM FORUMS
You guessed it
They dumped my thread ( pic above ) from the xbox forums. LOL ROFL LMAO
Yup now we know the REAL REASON on why Valve ****ed us over with the player cap.

Funny. Not only is a XBox client side seriously incompatible with a PC host, it creates major issues when playing in the same server with one of those buggers.
Lobbies for different platforms should be kept seperate! I used to own a GSP that had a affiliate contract with Novalogic and we did PS2 hosting for BHD. The Lobbies for the PS2 were always kept seperate. As a matter of fact the games were actually completely different and it wouldn't even be possible for them to cross platform them.
What is Valves reasoning behind this? Does anyone know? Have they given any reason at all?
The difference in performance issues alone would be enough to keep them seperate, you would think.
Not a very smart move at all but then again who ever said big buisness worked smart?
I find it amazing how they rarely listen to and give there customers what they want.
