View Full Version : Lowest Player Count I have Ever Seen in a Game

I fired up MOHA Multiplayer when I got home from work tonight, about 6:00 pm Pacific, just to see what kind of activity was afoot, when I realized there were only 19 servers with players on them, and the total player count was 179. I let the server list refresh for 4 or 5 minutes, and just more servers with zero players were added to the list.
In all the years I have been gaming, I have never seen a poorer turnout in a WWII FPS. The failure of MOHA is staggering.

I have to agree. Very sad indeed.
I had such high hopes for this game. I was hoping it would recapture some of the feeling of the original games. How I long for late nights like I used to spend playing Spearhead on a server that was packed until midnight pacific time every night of the week.

ahhh yes the good ol days....................
seemed to have disapeared for the mohaa series, they had every opportunity to make this game come out right but instead decided to do what think is best and not listen to the us the consumers.
RIP mohaa, pretty sad when there are
50 Airborne Servers (last total count I heard)
975 Spearhead servers (according to ASE)
Spearhead how old now? lol

Blackhat boasted about the high hopes EA had regarding Airborne and how they wanted it to be better then AA.
Now I understand how EA's corporate effort is focused on consoles (where they make their money now a days) but Blackhat made it seem they where focused on the PC side more then ever. I guess it was all a rouse to get us to buy the game and believe their hype.
I truly believe not only did EA mislead us, but mislead Blackhat. From the conversations I've had before and after the summit, Blackhat was always truly upset when anyone made comments on how they don't trust EA. He always tried to turn that around saying, "I know you will never trust EA .......", well duh. When it came to the game and what was shown to us at the summit, EA had never earned any of that trust back from past titles. What was there other then Blackhat to trust?
This game simply goes to show you how EA has not changed up until now and no one should ever trust them and only believe what is released.
Funny how some of the newer so called community leaders (EA's term not mine or many of the others guys who are called this by EA) went around praising EA on what was promised and tried to make EA look like the great developer the promises made them out to be. I guess they didn't understand how some of us where doing this for many more years and have been in this same situation before. I guess, they believed the hype and promises from EA without question and their delayed and special exclusive reviews showed this. Hell they where even upset with how I treated my members over the all mighty EA (go figure)
In the long run, when these guys are invited back for the next summit (I don't think I'm going to be invited back) maybe they will be a little more cautious in regards to what EA promises and what they report. You learn a lot from experience that you earn.
I'm hoping to write a short (yeah right ) article regarding my MOH experience and what transpired over the development from a community side of things. I just need to find the time with my traveling.

Take your time with the article..... as Yogi Berra always said.... "It ain't over 'till its over." :)
Besides, old Nomad loves giving them plenty of rope..... they'll either redeem themselves and the game or bury themselves along with the game and their future. ;)

Well i just tried the CoD4 single player demo, and if the MP gameplay, maps and dedicated servers etc. are up to the same standard as as the demo, then MoHA will be buried on 5th Nov., which is sad really because the gameplay part of MoHA is just as good as the original,
Its the content, the lack of support and the downright lying by EA that is so disappointing.
The player numbers could have been up in the thousands, because their were hundreds of old timers like myself just waiting to get back to grips with one of our fav. games, but instead of looking at it as a long term investment EA shot themselves in the foot, took our money, and are even at this moment tying up the laces in their running shoes.
It really is a badly made, shoddy effort on EA's part.
The disappointment that myself, and others feel, will have lost EA many thousands of future customers.
But then again i felt the same way when CoD2 was released, and i thought then the CoD series was dead and buried, now we got CoD 4,which is looking pretty good.
In about two months, no one is going to talk about moha (guess why)! Oh, and perhaps moha is going to change is name to "Forgotten Airborne"!

I'm still waiting for the spin where somehow the customer base is blamed for this debacle. It can't possibly be EA's fault .... right? :p

Very true, however, for years people will be talking about how EA screwed everyone back in '07 and that they haven't bought an EA product since.
Gilmore, now there's a scummy lying little butt scab that needs to have an accident in a dark alley. I'd pull the trigger but he's not even worth a decent bullet.

Gilmore, the VP in charge of this game and a man with no character or honor in my opinion. A lying scumbag simply put ! Just goes to show how HUGE companies are allowed to fleece the gaming community of it's hard earned money when they obviously didn't do much to earn it but lie and decieve to get it to sell. Hell he is not even man enough to address Rude's post over at EA.
Even if they fix what is broken the community as we knew it will have moved on to greener pastures, probabally CoD4 which is where my team is headed. I won't be preordering CoD4 unless a MP demo is released, burned by Activision before. I may be getting older but I am also getting wiser, from now on I have to see it to believe it , before I fork over a dime to any game in the future.

Even something as simple as autobalance when joining would be a God send. Having 6 allies against 2 axis on ctf is ridiculous!!
I hope Rude's thread over at the EA forums goes to at least 100 pages so we can print it out, roll it up real tight, and stick it straight up Gilmores backside!
Funny thing is there ARE people out there who want to play. I run around for a few minutes blowing myself up and people will funnel in. I'll get about 6 to 9 people in, but most people want to be Allies I guess.
Not great numbers, but at least some people are trying to make the best of it.

That was one of the things I mentioned to Blackhat at the summit. The admin needs to be able to do the following:
- Auto Balance
- replay map but have all clients switch teams
This way everyone gets a chance to play allies and axis for each map...
