Linux Server probs!

Iwas renting a Winodws server and now I have gone to a Linux server. I have a mod that worked just fine on the Windows server but consistantly crashes on a linux server. I am 99.9% sure my settings are correct for the Linux server. Is the coding for mods or maps different for a Linux server than a Windows server? If so what is the difference. I am new to Linux so I am not sure.
