Next-Gen: Exactly what are you guys doing to the game right now? Does this qualify as the "crunch mode" stage?

Patrick Gilmore: Well we’re post-alpha. I guess you could call it crunch—well, maybe not technically, because we’ve already spun out a few departments who are running at zero bugs and have started to bounce. Then there are a couple other key departments that are still working like crazy to drive it down to zero bugs for the most positive experience we can deliver. So for a significant portion of the team, they’re working really, really hard, but for others on the team their job’s basically done. They’ve already been through their really intense period.

"If you don’t deliver the fundamentals and deliver them incredibly well, I don’t think people care too much about what your innovations are." - Executive Producer Patrick Gilmore

If you don't bother to listen to your target market, how can you possibly know what the "fundamentals" are for that target market. You've been doing this for 10 years?!? and you still don't get it.

Hiring Blackhat - stroke of genius.
Disregarding the info he was bringing you from your target market - stroke of stupid.

I think the problem is that we (as in PC gamers) are no longer the target market. IW had a poll up asking what platform people were going to purchase COD4 on. A poll on their website where one would think more PC users would be. After several posts on other forums asking PC users to try to drive the vote up the last I saw it as around 75% XBOX and 25% PC.

As most I will wait and see but my hopes are that via patches and user created content this game eventually will live up to the expectations that we all had if that's even possible.
