I saw something this morning on CodAdmin about the patch, but after a few min I came back and it was gone. Can an admin shed some light?

Yeah that was my post. Somehow it got nuked(?)

Dont have time to retype everything but untill AADiC uploads it to CoDA's space you can grab it from AANs CoD FTP: Sorry guys I had to remove link to download. Just a couple more hours.

**Link Removed***** Per what he says in his next statement. (AADiC)

This is not an official release but it apparently is the real thing. If the links come down its because of an understanding between CoDA and the CoD Dev team.

Is this the real patch? Was it leaked or publiclly released? I'm reluctant to patch my servers until it has been released to the public.

Its leaked but from my forum wh0ring it appears to be the real thing. If you want to test it feel free but waiting for the official release wont hurt either. A few Admins have tried it and verified its real (I have seen SSs).

I've tried it out and posted my take on it here (http://www.allaboutnothing.net/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3113&sid=df0883616718677a67e2618706c5355a).

There are a lot of fixes that people were looking forward to, but as noted on codfiles, PB isn't included.

For those snipers out there, better get used to sniping again because it's a whole new ball game. A lot of comments about it while I was trying it out sounded like snipers were complete crap now. Well, they're not, but it does take a whole lot of skill to use.

The guys over at callofduty.se (http://www.callofduty.se) has gotten a confirmation from activision that this actually IS the official patch. It just leaked´out a few hours before the release.

I used Rudedogs method of copying just my data/system files to get my servers online. It worked great and I have two servers running on a dedicated box at the Beach. Now my problem is installing the 1.2 patch. It wont casue there is not an actual "install" of CoD on my server. Is there a way to copy the altered pak files to my server to get my server version up to date and running v1.2?

Rude, anyone.. help =)

What I had to do was download the large linux and grab the pk3 files, as well as the language file.

then install your upgrade locally and copy all dll files from main on your local box to your server
then copy the exe and dll file from the call of duty directory.

That seemed to work.

I think we would need a reg hack to get it to install via the windows exe

try using winrar first then unzipping after

The PK3 files should be there.

The Linux installation file uses bz2 compression. You can untar the files with the following command:

tar -jxvf ~/cod_install/COD-lnxded-1.2.large.tar.bz2

The original v1.1 version of the sever sometimes had a *.tar.tar suffix on the file name but it was the same file. If that is the problem, use the downloaded name in the above command.

See if that helps.

Problem of snipers rushing down the rd...sniping at your head, now fixed.

Snipers now have to play like snipers... being sneaky...and clever

Most of the time you can unzip it with the command 'bunzip2 <filename>'. The v1.1 has a tar.gz but when you download it on a windows machine it changes the extension to tar.tar, just rename it to tar.gz and it should open with the 'tar -xvzf <filename>' or on windows with winzip.

this worked for us

For those having issues with 1.2 because of the "glibc" issue:

- If you are on a modern distro, you shouldn't have this problem. if the
1.2 patch starts at all (regardless of script errors, etc), Stop reading
now.

Please note that the definition of "modern" is somewhat specific, since
Debian Stable doesn't match (but then again, Debian Stable is pretty old
at this point, to be fair. That's why they call it stable. ). If
your distro is shipping with gcc 3.2 or so by default, you probably
qualify as "modern" for the sake of this discussion.

- If you're on FreeBSD, upgrade to linux_base-8. If you can't (or
won't), keep reading.

- If you are on a older Linux distro (Red Hat 7.3, etc), keep reading.

- The libraries you need are not glibc specific, but rather support
libraries for gcc3. COD 1.1 didn't need this, since it was built with
gccc 2.95.3, but there are some serious code generation issues that gcc3
fixed, so I opted to move up to the newer tools. You don't actually need
to rip up your existing system, you just need the extra libraries that
gcc3 uses. Here they are:

http://icculus.org/updates/cod/gcc3-libs.tar.bz2
(896k download, beware of the symlinks in that tarball!)

Unpack that somewhere where the dynamic loader can pick them up, /lib
will work if you feel this is safe for your setup (it may not
be!)...alternately something like the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment
variable may help.

Please realize that this is a stop-gap measure; ideally, this problem
automatically goes away when new distros are installed/upgraded, and
won't need these support libs because they are already installed on th
box.

For the record, this binary was built with a stock gcc 3.2.3, so you
could theoretically regenerate and/or customize these libraries by
building/installing this version (or so) of gcc yourself.

I have done a Rcon4Cod Windows remote admin tool and added 1.2 changes to it.
It appears though that the unban command does not work :o

It just does a server message and does not clear the ban.

Also, why did they not add a unbanguid [guid] command :dis:

1.3 Beta should be out shortly.

A buddy of mine gave me this info and link, -=EPU=- is currently running a dedicated server with it to test it for ourselve's and those maps you guys are talking about are custom maps, I downloaded them from a website a bit back :D

1.3 Beta Download
http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=4617

- Fixed a slow update problem with the server list.

- Fixed a problem where the server list would improperly list servers with a ping of “1.”

- Fixed a problem with the server list being incomplete.

- Fixed an exploit where prone players who leaned around corners could see the enemy without being seen.

- Fixed an exploit where players could switch between prone and jumping positions to move rapidly across a map.

- Fixed a bug with the sway animation of the sniper rifle scope on high ping servers.

- Made improvements to Autobalancing.

Please carefully consider the following information before downloading and/or installing this Beta patch:

- This 1.3 BETA patch only supports English-language Windows versions of the game. There is no Linux version of the updated beta multiplayer code, and you will NOT be able to see Linux servers.

- Once you have installed this patch, the ONLY Call of Duty games you will be able to see or join will be on game servers that are running the Beta patch code. You will NOT be able to access any of the servers running non-BETA Call of Duty code (i.e. 1.2 or earlier). If you have friends or teammates who are not utilizing this patch, you will not be able to play with them.

- Once installed, there is no "uninstall" for the patch that would roll your game back to the previous (release) version of Call of Duty. Therefore, once you have installed this beta patch, the only way to revert to the release version of the game is to uninstall Call of Duty completely, and then reinstall the game from your Call of Duty CD-ROMs.

- Installation of this Beta patch will make you ineligible for any Activision Customer Support on this product. HOWEVER, reverting to the original release code by re-installing the game from the CDROM you purchased will reinstate your eligibility. Installing subsequent official patches will also reinstate your eligibility for Activision Customer Support.

- This patch does not address all known issues with the game

If there is a problem with this post just delete it I'm just sharing info I recieved from a buddy.
