I've blocked about 7 IP addresses today for spamming the forums/download section. We seem to have a bigger problem with the spamming of the download sections submit files form. Instead of disabling that feature I've simply blocked those IPs from accessing the site.It looked like a spam bot posting ads for all those great Internet products. If for some reason you can not access the site from your main computer, drop me a line with it's IP address. You may have a virus or some malware installed on your computer.
** also I've just returned home from a business trip so I'm catching up on all my mail and PMs. If you don't receive a reply by Monday, please send again.

Thanks, The Management

We noticed that they target general forums so on our site after trying multiple patches and "fixes" that didn't stop them we resorted to creating a "general forum" just to catch spam and our real general is now called G-chat. It's funny because the header to the general forums says, "Please do not read any posts in this section."

It's lame as can be but in the end it works quite well. The topic is set to auto prune so we don't have to do anything.

I've also noticed that their bot posts to the forum with a "forum ID" of 1. Another trick is to create a forum with an ID of 1 then hide it from public view. This way they post there and no one will see it.
