A very good and interesting read with the legendary Jon Carmack. He talks about Vista, DX10, Valve's online delivery system, episodic games and multi core processors. A bit short but well worth the read.
When asked about DirectX10 and Windows Vista, Carmack's reaction was lukewarm. He said there was no reason for gamers to rush to purchase DirectX10 cards or Vista, saying that "nothing is going to help a new game by going to a new operating system. There were some clear wins going from Windows 95 to Windows XP for games, but there really aren't any for Vista.

No surprise here for me personally. Crysis is the only game that even starts to push DX9. Microsoft admitted that from day one of DX10 developement. Game dev's have to learn like everyone elze and DX9 can do a whole bunch than any have imagined or dream of. DX10 is a leap beyond any game dev's dreams.

DX10 could protential give you HD photo realistic graphics will you see it probably not for a 3 or 4 years.

That's the thing I finally realized (another year older), it's going to take a while before you see any DX10 games look much better then DX9 games.

I'll wait until they took as good as the cost involved to upgrade.
