Hey guys,
Happy Halloween!
Demo's are a breeze - don't even degrade performance, at all!
UnDead - i think that demo thingy on the CD is part of the installation process...
Anyway, you need to have console enabled....any console command needs to start with /
ie: /cg_lagometer
To start a demo,
/record
(complicated, huh? LOL)
you get a little message on the left hand side "recording demo0001" and it updates the file size as you record....
To stop recording
/stoprecord
badda bing - demo saved to a demos folder
:!:
To watch the demo, you need to open the game, access the console:
/demo name of demo
and then you can watch the demo
Awesome!![/i]

The record, stoprecord and demo are all there (make sure you're running the MP). cg_lagometer is a cvar ...
I also sometimes use the cl_avidemo cvar, usually just set it to 1 and it will create screenshots as you play (slowly). Them you can combine the images to create a movie.

Kinda new at this but how would you create a config or bind to start recording at the touch of one key? I just can't figure out the command line to pull down the console, start recording, and then put the console away? For match play, this would be alot faster to just push one button to start and another to stop the demo rather then typing /record and /stoprecord all the time. Please, someone help. ;)

Nevermind...I was making it alot more complicated then it actually was. For those that are retarded like me, it is simply...
bind F5 "record"
bind F6 "stoprecord"
Well, I feel stupid now. First Quake engine game. ;) Oh well, latas.

I recorded a demo, but it would not let me play it back. It kept saying Cant write to demos\xxxxx. Any ideas why it wont play back?

A few questions regarding demo recording....
Is there a way to fast forward and/or rewind? Is there a way to slow down playback? Thanks

kinda so-so...you need to get 3rd party software seismovision (http://www.planetquake3.net/seismovision)....it will allow you to fast-forward, slo-mo, and change view perspective [/url]

I have something here, if you want it.
Demo recorder bound to the backspace key.
Let me paste the text from demo.cfg file
bind BACKSPACE "vstr demo_tog"
seta demo_start "record; set demo_tog vstr demo_stop"
seta demo_stop "stoprecord; set demo_tog vstr demo_start"
seta demo_tog "vstr demo_start"
copy that into a notepad file, rename to demo.cfg then in your CoD shortcut, in addition to whatever other command startups you have just add +exec demo.cfg or when you start your game you can type into console exec demo.cfg...whichever you prefer
Then, whenever you hit your BACKSPACE key, it will automatically start recording in game demo. Hit backspace again to stop. I have gotten into the habit of recording ALL my kill-cams by tapping the backspace key, just in case there is something suspicious, I have it for later evidence.
