Hey

When I make my server no one can join it, not even me. I type /connect (my internal IP) and it doesn't join. I have the server setup with my internal IP because I get these errors when I try with my external. I tried joining with my external anyway, but it didn't work.

I have also forwarded the ports on my router.

Here's the log I get in the dedicated server:

I think it's something to do with the "dedicated is read only"

And here is the target line I have on the shortcut:

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\CoD2MP_s.exe" +set dedicated 1 +set net_ip 192.xxx.0.x +set dedicated 1 +set net_port 28960 +set exec serverconfig.cfg"

My config file appears to be fine because I'm getting no errors about that.

So does anyone know what's wrong?

Thanks.

1st welcome

2nd, try this as your shortcut
"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\CoD2MP_s.exe" +set dedicated 1 +set exec serverconfig.cfg"

Now when you or your friends try and connect they need to use your public IP address not your private IP (192.168.x.x) as only you can see that IP.

Use a service like www.whatsmyip.org to find your public IP address

You only need to use the IP and port settings when your running multiple nics with multiple IPs in your server.

Your server has no map started. Append +map_rotate to your startup line and you shoud be fine.

Also, to have an Internet server, use 'set dedicated 2' instead of 1.

Now I'm getting this message at the end

map_rotate...

"sv_mapRotation" is:""

"sv_mapRotationCurrent" is:""

No map specified in sv_mapRotation - forcing map_restart.
Server is not running.

I'm still also getting "dedicated is read only"

I don't think it's that yet, because I can't even see my server in Local. When I simple go just create a new game and set it to "dedicated internet" it shows up in Local, but people outside of my network still can't join it.

I tried "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\CoD2MP_s.exe" +set dedicated 1 +set exec serverconfig.cfg in my shortcut and that didn't work either. I'm still getting "dedicated is read only" and I thinkt that might be the problem.

My mistake on that (thanks robert)

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\CoD2MP_s.exe" +set dedicated 2 +set exec serverconfig.cfg

Also, if you could post your serverconfig.cfg WITHOUT PASSWORDS that may help

1. Forget the whole IP thing. You are running a server on a local machine and in that setup the server software is smart enough to determine it by itself. Don't configure your IP settings.

2. An empty maprotation can be because of four things:
- You have no config file in your 'main' directory.
- Your config file is not readable.
- You point to a file that does not exist in your startup line.
- You have no maplist set in your config file.

3. 'dedicated is read only' is a notification that has no impact on your server's performance.

Look at point 2. My guess is your solution lies there.
