Just a quick question to ask if anyone has got any clues on how the server files will be made available? Will there be dedicated server files shipped with the game disc like on previous MOH's? Or will it be a case of extracting and editing the files a'la Call of duty?

Of course the first would be easier.. but it would be nice if the server installation files only contained the neccersarys so that we could keep all installations clean and pure.

Secondly are their any plans to release the server files on the same date world wide? Releasing the game first in America (for instance) before in Europe not only annoys clients, but is a burden on European Server co-ordinators as American firms can purchase & install servers days before we can! I would really like to have something done about this as it really can screw over a company having to wait 3-4 days after their large competitors... perhaps releasing server files a couple of days in advance worldwide to those registered server companies so we have time to install and have a mess around the settings and get our client's servers set-up a day or so before they get the game so people can walk straight into fully working servers?
Would definately make people play the game from day-one!
Just a few points :)

I agree a server only edition of the game is a "must".

BF2 is a good example when it comes to this as the server files are small compared to the game and making a server only version increases the chances of optimising for servers.

The Unreal engine does come packed with Admin stuff all ready to go and i do hope that the Airborne guys make the most use of it.

When it comes to servers and the Unreal real engine the bywords for success are optimise, untilise and then optimise again.

Unreal Engines do have a big hit on a server CPU but that's because the netcode is very generous when it comes to the way player pings are dealt with.
In my opinion it is the best netcode around for multiplayer but the more you can optimise the game and the server files the more Airborne servers you are likely to see which in the end will only benefit the games popularity.

Hopefully Blackhat will be able to start releasing some info on the Mp side of that game as they pass from alpha to beta and things start to shake themselves out.
