Wonder on what IW themselves thinks of this action. 402 do you have any answers to this newest revelation...........
Rudedog, I have edited this post to update the link to IWN.

As you may know I've been following this over at IWN.
I want to add an editorial of sorts to this but am waiting for a reply on something from a 3rd party site.
Hopefully in a day I will move this to the front page when I get more info.
I have updated the IWN link. It was moved to the IWN game server forum.

Well if you look at the graphs at http://game-monitor.com/search.php?search=...erver&game=cod2 (http://game-monitor.com/search.php?search=IWN&type=server&game=cod2) the servers were literally empty when the 1.2 patch was applied. Freeman rolled it back last night to 1.0 and all 3 of the 4 servers are stuffed.
Peace.

Why do you think that is though?

Why do you think that is though?
Two things come to mind as to why the action picked back up when IWN (The Toilet) reverted back to CoD2 1.0. (Man, that is a hard slap in the face to IW)
Pirated copies now work again on servers Cheaters have free reign once again.
You see, while PB didn't do everything right because of the sporadic nature of the authorization servers, there was always the outside chance of the Cheater getting caught and banned and it did knock offline the pirated copies being used.
So you see, Wizard 220's account of how many pirated copies of CoD2 are/were is use is fairly accurate. (Very high numbers)
All these "late in the game" happenings are simply heralding that "the end of the Call of Duty Franchise is at hand".
The beginning of the end was with the false advertising of and release of CoD2 with its multi player so badly scavenged that it insulted the intelligence of almost every user.
Most of us burned out waiting FOR the end of IW's;
STONE COLD SILENCE & ZERO SUPPORT
That really never came to pass in a reasonable length of time. Released in October, 2005 and June, 2006 is this week?? All these months have had a telling effect on the PC Community. An effect that will have lasting negative results among the users. It won't soon be forgotten.

Kind of makes you wonder why they still have not fixed the GameSpy public MP stats.
Either they don't know how to or they can't be bothered.
COD1 v 1.0 has a most serious issue that stands out. The game guid's. The game guids are not being reported correctly in some cases. This is not just for pirated copies but for legit users also. IWN knows this and yet they are banning people. Some players has asked for the evidence on why they were banned but IWN has yet to fork over the goods. IWN has not provided the proof that they themselves said would be provided. With this said I highly doubt that IWN has the evidence to support said bannings and has falsely accussed and banned people.
The COD2 trubs were evident on day one of release. From the time of release of 1.0 to the 1.2 patch release over 60 plus bugs/glitches/exploits were sent to IW for action. IW only looked at about 5. Hell even the server crash exploits are still in the game today. Some of which you do not have to be on the server and you can still crash it.
Yet IW put in a instant kill script if you attempt to climb a tree. What a joke.
Pirated copies:
After 1 month of release time for cod2 v1.0 the downloads from bit torrent sites exceeded 48,000 copies. I do not know the numbers at this time but you can bet your bottom dollar is has to exceed 100,000. Thats alot of money lost due to the big time let down of this game. COD2 after its first month was rated as the 4th most downloaded game. That alone should tell all to avoid it lke the plague. It is not worth the 60 dollar price tag and hell even EBAY has what 600 copies for sale on there. Again another sign to avoid this game and not spend the money on it. I do not condone pirating but the figures says it all. There is no way that I will spend my hard earned money on this.
I spent my money on Valve games, I have every game that they offer and I mean all of it. Thats alot of money and its well spent. My next project is to get BF2 with all the booster packs. This fall I will go out and pickup copies of MOH:Airborne and Quake Wars. I have dumped cod2 from my system and come soon I will dump from my backup drive all materials relating to cod2. That includes mods, maps or what ever. Gone, its no longer worth the space. I can put that space to better use.

I too am starting to play more steam games. Updates are usually fast and i can get ALL my games back after an OS reinstall. I mean for 10 bucks i can get HL1 and then play great mods like NS or Ditigal Paintball. I see more and more clan members not playing COD2 and playing WOW or Guild Wars or CSS.

Not to mention they're still patching and supporting HL1
Not to mention they're still patching and supporting HL1
BINGO
Its called "continued" and "support" of its user base(s). No matter what steam game it is, the updates do come out on a routine bases.
I also would like to point out EA/Dice, the ones who takes care of BF2. Now granted EA had a checkered past. They have really stepped up to the plate to fix their short commings.
IW on the other hand did not step up to the plate. Even today this very moment not one post on a patch status. E3 wasnt the "real" issue on why 402 didnt post. He just didnt post.
The MAC version shipping without being patched up to 1.2 standards says a book full. THink about it, the 1.2 patch was a total diasater when it comes to patches. It has done more harm than good. Is this the reason on why MAC version wasnt patched to 1.2. Who knows but its a good thought to think about.
For IWN, the "OFFICIAL" forums of IW to revert back to 1.0 and dump the 1.2 patch also says book fulls. But yet some of us are BANNED from IWN and can not post untill 2009. Hipocrits if you ask me.
