The first week and a day, beginning with April 01, would mark EARLY APRIL.
The weeks of the 9th and the 16th would mark MID-APRIL.
The week of the 23rd and a day would mark LATE APRIL.
A few questions & then observations; Will the Patch/Fix/Update be released in EARLY APRIL as previously stated by Grant Collier? Is IW going to allow and fully support Robert Bowling* in his efforts to support both the PC & the Consoles? Is IW going to continue to support the PC Platform? Is there to be an expansion to CoD2 similar to the UO expansion for CoD1? Is there ever going to be a release of both a solid Editor & an SDK for Modders and Mappers? Will Robert Bowling's duties truly involve support or simply be that of a "mouthpiece" for IW/AVI? Will IW fully utilize "communications" in the truest sense of the word? My greatest fears are that IW will allow 402 to only act as an "Official Announcer" and not a true communicator. Of course time will tell us all. Secondly, will IW be callous and time the release of the patch/fix/update to coincide with the debut of 402? If so that would be a tragedy of monumental proportions in regards to IW's respect for the userbase and for the success of 402's endeavors.
Infinity Ward's arrogance is only exceeded by Activision's moronic arrogance displayed toward their customers. The support currently afforded its users is, simply put; marginal and totally inadequate. IW is expected to heighten the levels of support through and upon the arrival of 402 to the expected levels necessary for both users/players and Server Admins. Will this occur or, is it a fantasy on our part? Again, time will tell.
Why all the questions and open thoughts? If one considers all the phases of interaction with Infinity Ward we've either enjoyed or not enjoyed since the release of CoD1, the questions and after thoughts become almost bigger than life. The majority of users are sincerely motivated in helping to prolong the lifespan of the Call of Duty genre.
The deepest of dangerous situations has been accelerated by IW/AVI's lousy release of CoD2, its subsequent support and communications by IW. As such, the downloads (Piracy) of CoD2 has been horrific and totally pushed to these numbers by IW's arrogant stone cold silence and lame support. Regretfully, I too have arrived at the conclusion that, in the future a cracked copy for testing of any IW/AV product is a far wiser thing to do than spend $60.00 for an ALPHA version of their efforts.
Doing so is like buying FACTS in Grand Central Station.
Facts for Sale!
Two entrepreneurs were discussing a new venture; One states; "I can sell shit in Grand Central Station!" The other, rather taken back by such a radical statement says; "OK if you are successfull, I'll fund the venture!"
The first guy begins to setup for the "test" sale... he gets a cigar box, takes a shit in it and then makes a thumb-sized hole in the cover. To finish the preparations he wraps the box in heavy golden foil, allowing for the thumb hole.
The two of them then go to Grand Central Station, enter the main area and setup shop. One stands and watches from a distance as the other begins;
"FACTS! FACTS FOR A DOLLAR! FACTS!! - FACTS FOR A DOLLAR!! he shouts..
A gent walks up and says; "I'll buy a fact!"
Our guy takes the dollar and tells the gent to stick his finger in the hole!
The gent sticks his finger in the hole and pulls it out, looks at it and smells it. He then exclaims; "That's SHIT!
Our guy hollers out.... THAT'S A FACT!!
Now I ask; "In the future, will we see the real thing from IW/AVI or, will we simply get a few facts?"
* Robert Bowling - fourzerotwo - 402; the new, to debut April 10th spokesperson for Infinity Ward.
