View Full Version : Admin - Switch Player Team?

Hey holy_moses, I have another question/request for you. This may be way out on a limb, but I'm not sure if its possible or not.
Now I know that there are autobalancing scripts that force people to go onto certain teams. I know that programs like serverwatch have commands that will throw inactive players off of their respective teams and into the spectators list. So my question is, do you or anyone else know how you could add a team switch function to your software? I'm thinking something where you enter the player number and click a switch team button to throw them onto the other team.
Issues would be:
1. If you can't get server status running, there is no way to know the ID of a certain player. But, all in all usually it works for someone.
2. Penalty to the player in kills and deaths that hopefully could be turned off somehow.
But being able to force team switches would be pretty cool when certain n00bs or jerks just won't switch teams. Is this possible?
Thanks.
I posted this in admin tools first, but then remembered that this forum was here so I am reposting it.

That would definitely be a good addition for the tool if possible.

There are actually a couple commands I'd love to throw in with the next release of the mod, including a "slay client", the already-in-existence switch-teams function, and a couple of others.
There are a couple problems with this though:
1) PRM realism 3.0 will have a custom HLC RCON menu built for it that includes these functions already. I don't want to step on PoolMaster's and Wolfsbane's toes.
2) The switch-teams function is not my own. I would like to get permission from the original scripter before I pack it with my mod.
3) These things would be server-side; so I would have to pak a server-side pak3 file in with my mod that the user would need to upload to his/her own server.
If there is an interest to have these functions, this wouldn't require much work on my behalf, just a few emails here and there.

Our clan will not be running realism so we would never see this function from the realism mod. It would be good to allow it to be with HLC as well I think.
I really like the HLC client side version, it is just so freakin easy to use. But offering the server side with the added features might not be a bad idea, but only if there is enough intrest.

I'm assuming that "slay client" will force a given client to die huh? Sounds cool! :!:
Personally I'd like to not have to run serverside mods if possible. Its a pain to upload them and move them in case that the server has to switch to go to a clan match to public etc. I guess if certain tools like team switch and slay client NEED to be server side, thats not too bad.
I'd just rather not have to have it get in the way.
Now if your mod doesn't interfere w/ game settings and it could still reside within the program during a match, then it may not be that bad at all.
If you know and don't mind saying, how long til you talk to the others about using their scripts in your mod? How long til the new version of the HLC Rcon Mod comes out? Thanks moses.

Coldlogic,
I've been waiting for the damn patch from IW/Activision. I have added BanClient support to the HLC RCON mod, but of course the feature is useless until the patch comes out. I was also waiting to see if any rcon scripts were added, which may allow me to improve the interface aspect of the HLC RCON mod. So the anticipated release date is: a day or two after the patch arrives!

p.s. The slay client/switch teams functions don't interfere with gameplay, so I would imagine they would be fine to leave in the server for clan matches. They only provide admin options.

Well we'll see what happens, I guess there could be a benefit to waiting so long for the patch: bug minmization.
I can't wait to see your new software version after you get the slay client and switch client team options added. Thanks for your time.
