What cheats are people doing?

Dear Group,
After reading the punkbuster thread I was left wondering what to look for as an admin. At various times, I see users logged in with the same IP address, but different ports, but I assume that since they are playing independently of eachother, that it must be a LAN party going on.

Based on the user comments and a google search finding people really upset about no PB, I gather that this is a real problem. How can I tell people are cheating, what do I look for, and what kind of cheats do they do? Please dont think that I am looking to go start cheating, but I would like to know what to expect and what to start kicking/baning for. Also, I would like to go into my server and see how they do it as I am really not familiar with this. Thanks!

It appears very odd that no one is willing to reply. I assume that either no one knows how people are cheating or people feel that I am trying to do it.

How about this, can you tell me what indication to look for, as an admin, that will make me aware of people cheating? As an admin, I want to know these things so I can kick people that are cheating. Thanks!

You should download and run the cheats on your own private lan server and work it out. I've never done it never really had the time, it's a shame that it goes on and it really ruins the experience of the game.

Installing the cheats and using them on your own private lan server is only the real sure way you are going to get an idea of what to look for.

In a way I agree with clumsytoole, but be very careful, when PB is released and if it finds any of the known cheats on your box you might be banned and there will be nothing you can do about it, so again be careful.

TBH, most of the time, it's simply a good player so be careful who you ban. some new cheats for CoD2 even advertises the user is using a cheat, until they pay a small fee to remove the ads LOL.

I've been accused of cheating because in some fast paste games, I always fire a couple shots when going around any corner. To an admin spectating this looks like I'm using a wall hack when I get that very lucky 1 in a 100 kill.

Some times when I have found myself spectating via the kill cam, I notice someone fires a couple shots at an open window and gets a really good kill, which looks like he is using a wall hack. What the kill cam does not show is a few seconds before he saw the sniper move back behind cover and was ready for the kill when the sniper moved back in the open window.

So what I'm saying is as a server admin you have to be careful not to get over excited by cheaters and remain calm and open minded. You'll always get the asshat who will brag about his cheat. Those are the guys who you ban immediately even if they where only joking.

Thanks for both your responces. I will look around, but at the same time, not get too trigger happy when kicking/banning. :)
