In the console on start up I read:

R_Init
DirectX reports 256 mb of video memory and 416 mb of available texture memory. using video memory size to cap used texture memory at 240 mb.

Does this mean the game is seeing only 416 mb of my 1 gig of ram?(I know XP is using some) And since it sees only 416 mb it caps the use of my memory at 240?

If not could it be explained what I am reading. I am looking to see why I have to make my settings so low in this game. I have an AMD 2ghz,1gig ram and a 6800GT. Is this another game that will run better with another gig of ram.

Thanks, Butch

Check your "seta com_hunkMegs " and see what is it set for.
You should set it about half of your system memory. You can even set it a bit higher. If you set it to high you will get an error message out of memory.
I have 2 x 512 in my sys amd set set it to
seta com_hunkMegs "512"

it will help loading maps faster and stuff too.
Not sure what the default is set at.

Thanks, Is that in the config file generated by the game itself? I know I have used via rcon before in testing. Butch

I hit ~ or shift+~ and bring console up when I type in seta com_hunkMegs "512" it shows up as a message on the screen. What am I doing wrong to get console to work? Is there a game setting I need to change or what??
Thanks, Butch
