Overall we give it a B!!!
If Punbuster was included and the ability to cook off nades and sprint were available we would give it an A+ Not sure how anyone else feels about it, but there has got to be a patch out soon. We also noticed some weapons have more power ex(Russian Machine gun), and maybe a weapons balance in the patch may be agood idea as well. What do you guys think?

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but so far with all the issues in MP, I like SP so much more.

I kind of feel dirty....:o

Yes, PB needs to be integrated, along with several small server sided issues like http redirect ,motd and mods.

Hopefully a patch will be released soon

I give it a B+. Reducing everything to the lowest common denominator, I'll take the inconsistencies. While I agree that a patch is necessary, this game is MOHAA Spearhead The Movie. With iron sighting. And well-done textures. And I don't view that as a bad thing. It's a classic FPS with some really sharp eye candy and smooth gameplay.

In a world of recent FPS releases that force upgrades from 1 gigs to 2 gigs of RAM...256 to 512 or 1024 SLI GPU and Barton to X64 Opteron just to make the run-time and gameplay tolerable; releases that bubble the paint on dedicated server boxes because the DEDserver app is so CPU intensive that 100% usage just aint enough; releases that gulp down bandwidth like it was free beer at low tide; releases where patches to patch the hotfixes that patched the patch that patched the retail release...Where was I?

You get what I mean. For all the games that I've seen in the last six months, I'd take COD 2 without PB over any of the other two that had PB out of the box. It's a bang-for-buck trade-off.

*Author's note: This is just my opinion and for the record, my opinion is based largely on positive thinking. I think Activision and IW will come through; they know that we know this game needs a patch. At least we can play it in the mean time.

Well, I give it two separate grades:

As a player, I give it a B+. Its fun. No doubt. Too bad noone can play in DirectX9 mode.... The weather effects are amazing, but useless unless you just want to be put at a disadvantage over other players.

As a server admin and mini-modder, I give this game a D-. From a management and modders standpoint, the game is almost hostile rather than helpful.

I'm right there with you guys. COD 2 is a solid B. My first thought when I first selected the shotty in MP was, WOW! Just like MOHAAS!

I was one of the few who felt let down when I heard no tanks or arty in COD 2. But, I gave it a chance, and it did not dissapoint me so much, BUT its not a game I can play all afternooon like I did CODUO or MOHAAS. After a while, TDM is just TDM. You still have noobs, campers, and door blockers to contend with. And with no PB, I have to deal with people screaming "cheater" at each other on every server I play on.

My 4 cents (2 cents after inflation).

Geez RD, single player??? You should be ashamed;)

Well, the little I've played (day jon is pissing me off), I've liked. I've only played one mission (the first) in SP, but here and there, hopped on servers (just finished up an hour's run). I like the game...its fast, the weapons are good and hard-hitting. The grenades are a bit weenie (I like to run around with one in my hand), but I've gotten used to it.

Since I haven't got a server up yet (day job again!), I can't comment on the admin issues you guys mentioned.

Woody mentioned something about having to dumb-down to DirectX7 on his machine. I haven't done any DirectX anything, and I'me playing all right...no lag. Haven't enabled the fps counter yet, but I'll try to do that sometime this weekend. I did download the latest Nvidia drivers, though...perhaps that helped? Not sure...just not having any problems.

I'm waaaay behind in this site, so I need to do some reading. Play first, read later...day job permitting.
