To run CoD2 in windowed mode (or not)

Greetings,

Aside from PB, one of the things I am really missing that was present in CoD and UO was the ability to select what mode to run the game in, windowed or full screen.

Is there any support, hidden or otherwise, to run CoD2 in a window?

just found r_fullscreen 1

testing now with
r_fullscreen 0

will report back my findings.

I also just tryed like crazy to develop more easy .. nothing worked for me,
COD always set r_fullscreen back to one.
Also setting it as startup param or stuff like that dont help.

Hi it states in full console that the r_fullscreen "1" is read only hence not being able to change if, if someone could find this in the game and change the type maybe they can get it to work

I don't know if I'm the first to do this but i worked out how to do windowed mode but only for single player.

1. go to the 'main' folder in the CoD2 dir.
2. then open the 'players' folder
3. open the account you want to run in a window
4. you will now see 2 .cfg files and a save folder
5. open the config.cfg file and search (ctrl + f) for 'fullscreen'
6. change the corresponding value to '0'
7. save the file and make it read only


It may require a reboot for the changes to take affect. I edited both the config.cfg and config_mp.cfg so that fullscreen is set to 0 but it only works with single player for me, i guess its some anti-cheat measure.

If any of you are still checking all this...

-1. Go to your Call of Duty 2 Folder (not main)

-2. Right Click CoD2MP_s

-3. Click Properties

-4. At bottum you see Attributes :
-uncheck read only box

-5. After that click apply.

-6. Click ok and go to your CoD2 Main Folder

-7. Click players & Click the One You Want to Edit

-8. Edit your Config_mp file and do (Ctrl + F) and find "fullscreen".

-9. Change the defualt of 1 to 0.

-10. Save it and exit.

-11. Go back to Properties and Attributes of your CoD2MP_s

-12. Check and then Un-Check the Read only Box.

-13. Click Apply and Click Ok.

-14. And Walla Go to Your CoD2 Profile You Edited. (Start CoD2MP)

-15. Type in console /r_fullscreen 0

-16. type /vid_restart

-17. And it should work after then.

Read- If this helpful hint does not work then you are in patch 1.0 witch it does not work in. Please leave 1.0 and try these steps again. and you will find it works.
